Beginning at 8:30 a.m., a lecture covers state gun laws, fingerprints, and the concealed-weapons-permit application. Qualification will follow the lecture at a nearby range, where up to 25 students practice firearm safety and fundamentals. After the class, the instructor will mail students their certificates, which they need to apply for a South Carolina concealed-weapons permit. See a schedule for forthcoming classes.

Drawing upon four years as a U.S. Army Ranger and more than 15 years in law enforcement, Mixon Eldridge ensures that students at I Am Not A Victim leave with an in-depth understanding of gun safety and responsibility. Along with Michael Seymour – a United States Marine Corp Infantry alum with more than 15 years of paramedic experience – Mixon leads eight-hour conceal and carry sessions that are split between classroom lecture and sessions at an outdoor range. Those courses cover subjects such as gun laws, firearm safety, and shooting fundamentals, while Mixon’s basic and advance trainings take closer looks at drawing and holstering, basic marksmanship, and firing at moving targets.
