This one is kind of misleading. Just looked on the website and see that the same package is on $54.95 during peak hours and $49.95 during discount hours,. So, it’s not really the deal impied. http://secure.iflysfbay.com/flyerFirstTime.html
I thought it was misleading to until I realized that it includes a DVD which costs $25 to add.

Yeah, the fact that it is only for one person to go twice is a deal breaker. I just ordered, but I’m going to cancel. It isn’t a very good deal at all.
I just called them (510-489-4359) to inquire about availability next month and the guy told me that the groupon is only for their Hollywood location, not the Union City one. The groupon solicitation didn’t mention that, of course, so there was some miscommunication somewhere…
Now the offer doesn’t mention that you get a DVD. What happened?

I called them too and they said there was a mistake and I am lucky I didn’t buy the Groupon yet. It is for their other location. Their IT guy is working hard trying to get the error corrected.
if this is not for union city, then this groupon is very misleading. Assuming it is, we also can’t tell if it applies for Wed-Friday all day or just before 5pm as their discount time is before 5pm weekdays. Please clarify
can someone from groupon confirm this is for the Union City location? it shows the union city address on the groupon, but if ifly doesnt know about it, then it doesnt do much good.

2 things:
1) the iFly deal is for the Union City location, not the Hollywood location
2) the 2 flights are for 1 person only and cannot be shared amongst 2 different people. You can however buy as many Groupons as you want for friends and family

The hours of operation for iFLY SF Bay are Wed-Sun. But the Groupon is valid through 4/18/10, during peak seasons they sometimes open their location up on Mondays and Tuesdays as well.
thanks for the convo on this groupon. Wanted to buy multiples to use when we are out in SF at the end of the school year. See that it expires 2 months before we are able to get there. Would not have know this without all of your comments. grazie

Here is my concern. The questions most people were asking are very simple and common questions that should have been addressed in the Fine Print to begin with. Customers should not need to ask these questions (at least from a good and honest business which i would like to consider you guys are)! And this type of issues have come up very often with all different types of groupons you guys have offered. I figure you guys should have learned it by now.
Really, many of these confusions can be avoid if you can just give a little more thought to your postings. I almost start to think that you guys are purposely trying to mislead customers!
Given an organization like yours with such an innovative business idea and I assume many top notch employees in the industry, this type of mistakes/confusions is just NOT acceptable.

I’ve been here before. Each flight last only 30seconds so basically you are paying $40 for 1 min in the tunnel. Besides this is the same price you get it at with the Family Package which includes the DVD as well… blah….
also for the times available its always $49 to fly. DVD is only $24 so how does that total $82?

The Groupon voucher is available until close Wed-Fri, thus you can use it in the evenings. The anytime pricing for Earn Your Wings is $54.95 and the DVD is $27. This is how the $81.95 pricing was calculated.

Each flight is 1 minute and you wait the other people between flights which is 14-15 more people. So you fly 2 minutes and wait 14-15 minutes between flights.
I went to the Fremont iFly before, so what I was reffering as 1 min flight is for Fremont. Your 1 minute starts right after you get up to go to the chamber.
Considering you’ll have to pay much more for a tandem sky-dive this is not a very bad deal.
would’ve liked to purchase the two flights for two people, rather than two flights for one person. what difference would it have made? i’d rather they keep the DVD and just let two people use the groupon.
I just called to ask a few questions. I believe the woman who answered was Angie and she confirmed it was for the Union City location. She said that a reservation should be made 3-5 days in advance, the two flights are on the same day, and that the entire session from check in to check out is about 1 hr 45 min.

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal in the state of California for credit or a gift certificate to expire. So there cannot be an expiration date on this deal.
Here is the citation. TITLE 1.4A. GIFT CERTIFICATES California Civil Code Section 1749.5 1749.5.
(a) On or after January 1, 1997, it is unlawful for any
person or entity to sell a gift certificate to a purchaser containing
an expiration date. Any gift certificate sold after that date shall
be redeemable in cash for its cash value, or subject to replacement
with a new gift certificate at no cost to the purchaser or holder.
(b) A gift certificate sold without an expiration date is valid
until redeemed or replaced.
© This section shall not apply to any of the following gift
certificates issued on or after January 1, 1998, provided the
expiration date appears in capital letters in at least 10-point
font on the front of the gift certificate:
(1) Gift certificates that are distributed by the issuer to a
consumer pursuant to an awards, loyalty, or promotional program
without any money or other thing of value being given in
exchange for the gift certificate by the consumer.
(2) Gift certificates that are sold below face value at a
volume discount to employers or to nonprofit and charitable
organizations for fundraising purposes if the expiration date on those

Do any of you ever compliment groupon for the service they provide? All I’ve seen is age after page of complaints. Yes, this is for just one person, yes you ONLY SAVE 10$ HOW DARE GROUPON LET YOU SAVE 10$ for something that is cool and fun to do? (That’s only if you didn’t care about the DVD.. in which case you really save what they say)..

The Groupon voucher is good for Mondays all day, starting the second week of November (when iFly reopens on Mondays). The voucher is also good for Tuesdays all day starting this Tuesday October 20th.

The money that you pay for the voucher never expires. That $40 that you pay for this feature still has $40 worth of value in the business after the Groupon expiration date. What expires is the added value (i.e., $40 gets you 2 flights and a dvd)

Sorry to triple post… but I do want to add that I know of 2 friends who have gone to this place and said it was AWESOME. And, I’m a huge fan of Groupon. I think it’s great they allow this discussion to even take place- it shows they’re not trying to hide anything and want to make sure everyone is happy with the service(s).
I did not realize this is only for 1 person. So if I wanted to buy another coupon, where could I go to as the page does not show the button to buy after I’ve ordered one
I was tricked by the wording, it’s a bad deal. It clearly says, “2 flights” in the Groupon, they have purposely misled those going to the Groupon site. Don’t trust Groupon and don’t trust iflysfbay. I guess the next step is to go to the BBB and file a complaint.

I thought so. But whenever I come back to the page, the buy button does not appear. Instead it was replaced with some display about I’ve bought it and link to the page to retrieve the coupon I tried with diffferent browser – can no longer find the buy button. There’re some problems with the web page?
In any case, it is expired. Can I get a refund then, since 1 person is not that useful for me?
There are some serious issues with this deal and I am very unhappy that either IFLY or Groupon listed the deal with the misleading title of $40 for 2 when the actual print out says 1 Earn your Wings Package. Why was it not listed that way in the first place? I bought 7 of them thinking I was giving presents to 14 family members! Now I am screwed!
I know the actual flight time is worth it from friends who have done this, but I do not like that the deal is not as it was listed: $40 for 2 !
I tried calling IFLY and was on hold now for over 15 minutes! Apparently when they sold over 1200 of these the chances of actually getting to book a reasonable flight time prior to April is going to be nearly impossible.
I will want a full refund and then I will book directly with them for a group flight where I will pay less than this fake deal.
I think it is GROUPON’s responsibility to make sure they are offering reasonable deals. Apparently this is NOT.
Oh and my friend just let me know …the $25.00 Dvd is of the entire flight group, not just your own flight time. This would mean that if I take my family we would not need 4 of the same dvd at a cost of $100! so lousy deal if you take more than just yourself.

I don’t understand everyones complaints, if you just read through the information it is clearly written. Groupon is just like any other coupon, you need to read the fine print, just like you should with everything.
Your “flight” may be short,b u it is memorable. Took my 10 yr old daughter and her friends to iFly, and they still talk about it. It’s short, yes, but will give you dreams of flight for months.
Still waiting for a response to my request for a refund or the option to purchase another groupon (my girlfriend and I planned to go together).
Would have been nice if it was $40 for two people instead of 2 flights. Times are tough! :)
