Ignite Glass Studios

Encompassing an event space, an outdoor garden, and a rooftop deck with magnificent views of the Chicago skyline, in addition to a glass workshop, Ignite Glass Studios pairs creativity with a sense of community spirit. The shop invites visitors of all ages and skill levels into its spacious digs to try their hands and lungs at the art of glass blowing, a technique that involves sculpting and molding molten glass with a blowpipe. Fledgling gaffers, as these artisans are called, can hone their technique through workshops, team-building activities, and classes. Classes range from the introductory level, which starts with the fundamentals of blowing and shaping bubbles and working with color, up to specialty classes focused on advanced topics such as Venetian glass blowing, the technique by which the world’s most delicate gondolas are made.
