Though the noble experiment of Prohibition failed, other noble experiments, such as teaching horses how to shoot guns and giving suffrage to any horse that could shoot a gun, were huge successes. Celebrate the failure of the 18th Amendment with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $39 for a wine, a beer, or a mixology class for one (an $89 value)
  • $69 for a wine, a beer, or a mixology class for two (a $178 value)

The brand-new Beer 101 class introduces students to the subtle variations of color, texture, and flavor that can make beers just as complex as fine wine. A connoisseur leads tastings of multiple styles, and explains the ins and outs of the brewing process. Students go home with a working knowledge of food and beer pairings as well as a helpful beer style guide.

During a 2.5-hour introductory wine class, students taste their way through six wines—one sparkling, two whites, two reds, and one dessert wine—while learning wine basics from industry professionals. Students continue their libation education at home with the take-home e-book A Fun and Informative Introduction to the Wonderful World of Wine.

During 90-minute mixology classes, expert drink-mixers lead students as they sample five cocktails and select two to make themselves. The seasoned instructors introduce the foundations of flavor pairing, liquid ratios, and blending while regaling students with tales from cocktail history. At the end of the class, students take home a recipe book featuring the five drinks sampled in class.

Indulge Wine School

Indulge Wine School's staff of educators, such as Kris in Jacksonville, a wine expert and blogger, expands wine knowledge with ease, having turned the revelry-steeped tassels of nearly 3,000 graduates. Classes of 12–20 take place in venues throughout the United States, as students swirl and sip their study materials and nibble complimentary appetizers. Every class ends with a Q&A session, during which potation professors shine a light on oenophilic mysteries including tannin content and regional differences. Afterward, students continue to ferment knowledge at home with a complimentary electronic copy of Indulge's book A Fun and Informative Introduction to the Wonderful World of Wine, a food-and-wine-pairing chart, and a top-10 list of wine-buying tips.

The Groupon Guide to: Impromptu Holiday Games

With holiday season in full swing, there's no shortage of dinner parties to attend. If your host doesn't own any board games, save the evening by suggesting a game that can be played without gaming equipment:

Bang, Bang, Hear, Hear: Have one person grab a fork, spoon, and knife. After everyone else closes their eyes, the person holding the utensils will start banging one of the three against the dinner table. The first person to correctly guess what the banger is banging wins and gets to leave the game.

Noise Town: Break off into groups of two. Each pair builds a unique city by creating a soundscape using the sounds that come out of their mouths. The team that builds the loudest town gets the grand prize—getting to wait outside until the other teams stop.

My Country, Your Country: One person starts the game by approaching another person and saying "My country." The person has to respond, as quickly as possible, "Your country?" The first person then must say "My country" again, this time faster than the second person said "Your country?" This keeps going until everyone feels compelled to simultaneously shout "The holidays: are these not the finest times of our years?" Then everyone gets to leave.

Should December be called Game-cember?
