Questions and Answers
Actually, I love the website Groupons. If you live 1-2 hours from the nearest city with Groupons, it makes it a lot easier to make a great purchase if it’s through a website or has a website option. Is local better? Sure. But we’re not all lucky enough to live in major cities. I’m not local to anything Groupon does so this is sometimes the best way for me to enjoy Groupons.
Can they only be delivered to the campuses listed on the website? Or can they be sent to a residential address or a college not on the list?
I agree with Susan E.- I, too, enjoy and seek out online deals, as oftentimes it affords the opportunity to support small online businesses owners. I adore having the opportunity to buy local, and even appreciate the occasional big business offering. Variety is the spice of life and helps make Groupons so much more interesting.
I also would prefer to see more local shops on Groupon but that’s a function of how willing the local business is to commit to a Groupon-worthy offer. I have a bigger problem with Brazilian Blow Dry-type deals but that’s not Groupon’s fault either, in all fairness. If somebody has the cash to plunk down $89 bucks for $20 worth of service and product, and everybody’s happy afterward, at least some money got injected into the economy. I mostly subscribe to check out the writing that supports the offers. If they start skimping on the creativity, I’ll bail because it will mean 25-30 % offers can’t be far behind. In the meantime, go Groupon. Even if I don’t respond to every offer, I always get amused. And these days, any website that can spread joy and discounts is performing a huge public service.
Groupons are great! I respond to online and/or local businesses – I look at other cities when I am planning a trip, those of you who are complaining may need to be the ones who need to be a little more creative – you may need to start thinking outside of the box – not Groupon. Even if a small business isn’t featured it helps small business, today’s deal is being used by our small business to send to clients during the holidays….
One more thing while I’m the subject of Groupon’s value to society. If there are any Econ profs or beginning Econ students out there struggling to covey or comprehend the concept of “marginal economics,” they don’t have lose sleep over it. Groupon’s deal tipping feature is a perfect example of the idea in action.

Careful Dina W this one expires in Nov. Unless you are gift giving for Thanksgiving this Groupon won’t help with the holidays. I thought the same thing…clearly they did as well. Didn’t stop me from buying 3 though!! Haha

Surprised to see Insomnia Cookies giving Groupon another try. Good for them.

Hi Hope – They can be sent to residential addresses. Follow the instructions on your voucher to redeem and you will be all set.
Thanks, Michael @ Groupon
Does anyone know if the included shipping covers anywhere, or only Manhattan? The $50 value would equal the usual cost of the 24-cookie box with Manhattan delivery. the value would be higher for other parts of the country.

I am tired of groupons that are for web sites. I would rather purchase from a small business that is local.
