Warm, relaxing atmosphere.

Gaban'yoku bathing treatments detoxify bodies & increase flow of oxygen to brain in treatment lauded by New Beauty magazine

Long relegated to service as river skippers and no-fuss pets, rocks are actually the innovators behind radiant heat, zen gardens, and the musical stylings of Rush. Benefit from geological ingenuity with today's Groupon to Iyashi Bedrock Spa. Choose between the following options:

  • For $69, you get either three 60-minute sessions of hot bedrock bathing, or three 90-minute sessions of hot rock/hot yin yoga, or a combination of each (up to a $178.50 value).
  • For $110 you get either six 60-minute sessions of hot bedrock bathing, or six 90-minute sessions of hot rock/hot yin yoga, or a combination of each (up to a $357 value).

Iyashi Bedrock Spa's elegant 3,000-square-foot space supplies North America with one of the only opportunities to experience the benefits of black-silica stone bathing. The black silica rocks, which are kept around 42 to 44 degrees Celsius and 50 to 60 per cent humidity, emit infrared rays of natural light, heating humanoids, like anonymous love notes, from the inside out. As sweat graciously exits through pore portals, immune systems strengthen, and toxins break down into pathetic, straight-to-TV molecules. Negative ions released from the black silica increase flow of oxygen to the brain, resulting in heightened alertness and the ability to punch procrastination.

Hot bedrock bathing sessions can be reserved in the deluxe or traditional suites. The traditional Ganban'yoku (bedrock bathing) women-only suite hosts 17 beds, and each session consists of 60 minutes of intimate rock time with breaks intermittently spaced throughout in the adjoining cool-down room. The four-bed deluxe suite rests as an ideal space for private sessions or groups of up to four men, four women, or one or two couples, with sessions summed up in 60 minutes. Hot yoga breaks up time with 30 minutes of bedrock bathing on the hot stone beds followed by 60 minutes of hot yin yoga. Held in the traditional suite, which welcomes men and women, hot yin yoga is an invigorating and gentle practice focused on floor poses for maximum stone contact and minimum gravity aggravation. Today's Groupon allows users to mix and match three or six sessions of the two services.

Japanese-inspired decor, dim lighting, and heat that radiates from the ground create an aura of calm rarely seen in the outside world. For the bedrock session, a specially made spa outfit is provided. For yoga, wear comfortable clothing and something to change into afterward, such as a pillow Halloween costume.

Just be ready to enjoy yourselves! We like the private session/rock spa ourselves, but all of the services are probably great. The only thing that they could do to improve the experience is to provide an additional towel for showering after the spa. Right now you just have the one towel that you use to lay on in the spa, but after an hour it gets pretty sweaty. But other than that, brilliant as always :)
