The first time Christie Mumm saw her newborn daughter's face, she knew nothing would ever be the same. She couldn't have anticipated, though, how much her love for her own husband and child would spill over into her work, and how it would, in turn, fuel the growth of her photography. From its beginnings as a part-time venture based out of Mumm's home in 2001, JLM Creative Photography has grown to fill an elegant downtown studio whose pale blue walls are filled with images of the candid smiles she has captured. As a mother, Mumm is keenly aware of how quickly children grow, change, and shape shift into wererabbits, and she's made it her mission to help other couples and families memorialize their fleeting, joy-filled moments.

Mumm and her team specialize in fine-art lifestyle portraiture and wedding photography. Her penchant for natural-light work has led her to many picturesque destinations, including a Lake Tahoe engagement shoot and a vintage-inspired wedding shoot on a lush 13-acre Nevada City estate; both were featured on the wedding-planning website On the Go Bride. Mumm has also written a book—Family Photography—which emphasizes the importance of relationships in the digital-photography business.
