Jus by Julie
Julie started making juices simply because she was unable to eat as many greens each day as she would have liked. But after she and her husband started juicing, she was feeling leaner, her husband's cholesterol had dropped 70 points, and her phone was ringing off the hook with friends of friends calling and asking her to make juice for them. She had to field so many calls in fact, that she started waking up at 4 a.m. each day to make enough for everyone.
When she realized that she and her kitchen couldn't handle the growing demand for her homemade juices, she launched Jus by Julie, a line of fruit and veggie drinks blended and bottled fresh each day, now available in four retail locations.
As a nutritionist, Julie prefers to blend her kosher juices (instead of pressing them), so that she's able to use whole foods and not lose any of their vitamins, minerals, enzymes, or antioxidants. There are two full cups of veggies in each juice, whether it's the All Green Everything blend of romaine, kale, spinach, and celery, or a fruitier flavor, such as the watermelon-banana combo in Liquid Summer. Customers can order individual bottles, or invest in three- or five-day cleanses; the cleanses come with bottles that are numbered, taking the guess work out of which order to drink them in.
