Rated a Top 10 Event in the state according to the Kentucky Tourism Council, Kentucky Crafted: The Market brings shoppers face-to-face with the artisans producing some of the state's best art, literature, music, film, and food. This year's 30th-anniversary event will brim with the hustle and bustle of more than 200 exhibitors, including Marta Elam Dorton selling whimsical landscape paintings and Richard Adams proving trees aren't just hugging partners with his array of wooden sculptures. While shoppers negotiate the sensory-satisfying landscape, live musical performances by such acts as Butch Rice, Amos Hopkins, and Appalatin will send their joyful noise up above the din. Artists and authors will lead workshops on such topics as fiction writing, Chinese dance, and gospel singing; hands-on activities can educate every member of the family.
Though the Kentucky Crafted: The Market sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.
Kentucky Crafted: The Market
The Kentucky Arts Council, in conjunction with state of Kentucky, packs 30 years’ worth of experience and excitement into Kentucky Crafted: The Market, and it shows. The weekend festival collects more than 200 exhibitors from all walks of self-expression, be they artists, musicians, artisanal food products, or writers. They populate the expansive halls of the Lexington Convention Center with their handmade artwork, giving the public a chance to interact with them, order custom artworks, or just see and sample some goods. After navigating aisles full of artful sights, sounds, and smells, guests can relax and catch a concert at the Kentucky Stage music festival, a simultaneous event that collects beloved musicians from across the state. With all of this activity, its no wonder that the Southeast Tourism Society has named the festival one of the top 20 events in the region for each of the past 15 years.
