KIND

Though KIND fruit-and-nut bars reside in the snack aisle rather than behind a pharmacy counter, they’ve still found their way into medical research. As researcher Dr. David Katz reported to ABC News, a 2010 study found that adding two KIND bars per day to participants’ diets helped them maintain—and in some cases even lose—body weight. The results confirmed a theory of snacking that KIND’s founders had suspected all along—that the secret to healthy eating lies in embracing natural, whole ingredients rather than cutting foods out.

After years of helming the socially minded PeaceWorks Inc., entrepreneur Daniel Lubetzky and his team launched KIND in 2003. Based on a philosophy of unification, not compromise, KIND's products strive for a perfect merging of taste, convenience, and flavor. Its original fruit-and-nut bars, available in varieties such as Almond & Coconut and Peanut Butter & Strawberry, share digital shelf space with KIND Plus bars, which are packed with extra nutrition, and KIND Nuts & Spices, a low-sugar option that combines nuts with flavorful spices. KIND Healthy Grains come in clusters perfect for popping in one’s mouth or throwing at a sleeping cubicle mate. KIND maintains its social mission with its KIND Movement, an initiative aimed at making the world a little kinder. Currently spreading kindness across the country one act at a time, KIND's products were recently lauded by the Today Show.

The Groupon Guide to: Choosing a Jersey Number

Professional athletes are faced with many difficult decisions, such as choosing to which charity to donate their entire salary or settling on a jersey number. If you get picked to play big ball with the big boys and big girls, use these helpful tips for selecting your definitive digits:

  • Choose a number that has meaning to you, such as the number of teeth inside your mouth.

  • Go with a number that gives you an interesting story to tell the sports reporters whenever they ask you "Hey champ, could you tell us why you picked that uniform number again?" This number could be the amount of people you'd kiss if you had no respect for personal boundaries.

  • Pick a random number, such as 9 or maybe even 10. It's up to you as long as it's either 9 or 10!

  • No one has ever gotten away with a three-digit number … yet.

  • Do you have a lucky number? If you don't, you should choose one now because you'll need one—most professional athletes have incredibly short careers and aren't qualified to do anything else.

Did Shaquille O'Neal choose number 32 because that was the number of teeth he had at the time? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
