In Italy, fettuccine is traditionally used to satisfy hunger, give alfredo sauce a place to sleep, and fill piñatas during candy shortages. Take a whack at a party’s worth of pasta with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of classic Italian fare at La Dolce Vita Bistro.
Nestled in the heart of Little Italy, La Dolce Vita Bistro preserves the charm of traditional Italian bistro cuisine in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The leisurely paced menu leads diners on a tour of gustatory delights, including pasta and gnocchi cooked fresh to order and bathed in any one of an array of sauces ranging from imported plum-tomato marinara ($15) to the firenze, a bright mélange of mushrooms, tomatoes, parsley, and sautéed anchovies ($17). Enchant stomachs with spellbinding entrees such as the citrusy pollo all’arancia, a chicken breast drizzled with fresh-squeezed orange juice, extra-virgin olive oil, and black peppercorn ($20). Couplets can embark on a six-course journey that includes two appetizers, one pasta, a risotto, veal or fish, salad, dessert, and a round of midmeal calisthenics ($50). Meanwhile, a decadent denouement awaits in the form of toothsome desserts, with myriad Italian staples such as the cannoli ($3 for small; $5 for large), tucked amid more contemporary sweets such as the chocolate cheesecake ($7).
La Dolce Vita Bistro's earthy tile work and warm service recall Europe’s golden belle epoque era, the height of continental beauty, innovation, and absinthe-fueled fairy sightings. Drink in the splendor and some extra foam with a round of cappuccinos and other espresso drinks, whose bold, buzzy jolts prop up droopy eyelids and conversations.
La Dolce Vita
When La Dolce Vita's chefs aren't serving the crowds of diners during Little Italy's annual Feast of the Assumption Festival, they craft iconic Old-World cuisine for the restaurant's diners. The chefs dedicate themselves to the dishes' original flavors by ordering entire bales of Italian parsley and importing plum tomatoes through the Atlantic Ocean's subterranean tunnels. These ingredients add a distinctive Italian essence to the menu of oven-crisped pizzas, freshly blanched pastas, and sautéed veal tenderloins. Outside the kitchen, the atmosphere gets a dose of Italian essence from classic Italian films that, according to Gayot, are screened against the dining room's back wall. While taking orders, servers can help diners complete their meals by recommending wines from the 200-bottle-strong list.
In my opinion, this is the best food you'll find in Cleveland's Little Italy. The fettucine fellini is unstoppable. Their pesto sauce is amazing.Kevin, Urbanspoon, 8/9/09
