In a Nutshell

Massage experts teach couples basic techniques that relax stress and foster intimacy in class followed by a champagne dinner

The Fine Print

Giving yourself a back massage is impossible, much like keeping your eyes open while sneezing or reading an entire book. Learn to read your loved one's mind and musculature with this Groupon.

$99 for Couples Massage-Class Package ($248 Value)

  • Massage class for two (a $190 value)
  • Dinner for two with Italian, chicken, pasta, vegetarian, or gluten-free options (a $40 value)
  • Champagne (an $18 value)

Classes are scheduled by appointment Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m., or Sundays at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. During the two-hour massage class, experts introduce groups of four or five couples to basic massage techniques such as kneading, gliding, and tapping out a love poem in Morse code. Duos sip cups of tea or fruit-and-herb-infused water as they learn to pinpoint muscle knots and lower mutual stress levels. After the lesson, they retire to an elegant dining area to nosh on their choice of Italian, chicken, pasta, vegetarian, or gluten-free fare. Hands intertwine for a champagne toast, celebrating the couples' sense of renewed intimacy and their ability to relieve future backaches caused by long car trips or cramped rides on a unicycle built for two.

La Dolce Vita Spa

Just walking distance from the Long Beach Convention Center lies a 2,000-square-foot oasis and two-time MyFoxLA Hot List honoree. The historic downtown building houses four separate treatment rooms where aestheticians perform a variety of facials, massages, scrubs, wraps, and manicures. Their menu of international therapies borrows seaweed mud and traditions from France, Italy, India, and the Middle East, and their medical facials are performed under the direction of a board-certified dermatologist. In addition to individual clients who arrive solo for a day of pampering, La Dolce Vita invites groups celebrating birthdays, wedding days, and spa-appreciation days.

The Groupon Guide to: Spicing Up a Monologue

Monologues are the most boring part of plays since they only involve a single performer and that single performer is never an adorable baby actor. To make these seemingly unending passages more interesting, follow these helpful tips:

  • Do something interesting with your voice. You could give your character an accent or, if you can't do a convincing accent, just yell the entire time.

  • Cut out all the unnecessary words, such as articles and any full sentences that don't foreshadow how the main character is a group of children hiding inside a man's suit.

  • Wear a funky hat or rad loafers. That'll give the audience something to look at!

  • Perform it with multiple people and tell the director you're going to start calling it a fun-o-logue.

  • Start at the end of the monologue and work backward. Then when you finish, tell the audience that they just got Pranked'd™. (If you're interested in buying the rights to use the name Pranked'd™, probably for a hilarious hidden-camera goof show, please contact Groupon for more information.)

Why is there so much yelling in plays? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
