Great Googly Moogly – La Madia pizza for 65% off?…? If Groupon has a sold out limit, this one certainly will…!

Jennifer C.

Haha! Great Googly Moogly. I haven’t heard that one in a while.

Shereene M.

does a pizza feed 1 person?

Brian S.

You say that “Each pizza comes with a recommended vino pairing…” You should clarify this. I doubt the price of the pizza includes a free glass of wine.

Dellutri Z.

I would assume this means that the wine selection is merely SUGGESTED, not given with the meal.

;)

I love the ninja turtles video game reference.

It stands to reason that if the value of the groupon is “up to” $34 and the most expensive pizza on the menu is $17 – the Burrata, with wood-roasted eggplant, market tomatoes, and torn basil – then wine is not included.

Michael P.

It does stand to reason, but it still needs to be spelled out. What’s the deal groupon?

L F.

So is this Groupon good today? I am assuming it isn’t, but I will be right by La Madia today, so just wondering.

Robert O.

it’s a great deal. yummy.

This is a good deal. The pizza are thin crust and could each feed two people (with appetizers) depending on your appetites. If you like chardonnay, I recommend the Monjardin.

Emily E.

Also confusing – is it only for two pizzas? So that the only way you could possibly spend the full amount you purchase ($34) is by getting the Burrata? That seems a little stupid.

Kristin W.

I am also wondering if I can use this groupon today??? Any way to find out?

Sandra M.

is 1 pizza only good for one person? meaning 2 pizza for two? take out?

Hi. I’m sorry; the Groupon is not available to use until Monday. As for the wine, no, there is no wine included in this Groupon, but La Madia has more than 75 wines available by the glass, and about 220 bottles. I work at La Madia, and I can’t finish a whole pizza by myself. The pizzas are around $12 in diameter. When 2 people share two pizzas, we usually box up several slices to take home.

We look forward to welcoming every Groupon member to La Madia.

Sorry, this deal is dine-in only.

Anthony D.

Fantastic deal. I’ve been enjoying La Madia pizzas from the first week they were open. I can tell you that one pizza is perfect for two people (as long as you get a salad to start). Two pizzas? I’ll be taking a whole one home for another meal! Thanks La Madia.

Laura W.

I bought this Groupon this am but am now VERY disappointed to learn upon reading the fine print that if I order anything but 2 pizzas it will not be covered in my groupon. All your other restaurant groupons are for anything on the menu. I think today’s offer was misleading, dudes! Groupon, why are you doing this to us? Now I can’t trust you anymore!!!

@Laura: I think that “$12 for Two Pizzas at La Madia” it’s pretty self explanatory, even without reading the fine print.
Anyway, I think you are supposed to read the fine print too, before you buy a Groupon.
I think the only one to blame here is yourself.

Cindy L.

Yummy! This place has a good atmosphere and the food is good. I would pay full price, but now 12 bucks for 2 pizza. Awesome!

Rosemary M.

I am feeling mislead myself because i just bought the coupon to use tonight but upon printing it says it is not usable until tomorrow-and then it is not usable on Valentine’s day. I am trying to get a hold of the restaurant to see if I can otherwise I will be returning.

Bret S.

Laura, while I think Simone is correct, I’m so excited about this offer that I’d compensate you to keep you from being disappointed. Add Beall to my name and google me, and we can work something out offline.

I am sorry you feel mislead. Under the photos on the Groupon page, it says, “Not valid Valentine’s Day.” Due to credit card processing times, it’s our understanding that most Groupons are not valid until the day after they run, and since ours runs all weekend, that means Monday. We also have a lot of reservations for Valentine’s Day, and it might be hard for Groupon members to get a table. We didn’t want to disappoint anyone.

Since Groupon is the seller and they processed your sale, you would need to talk to Groupon about a refund. We at La Madia would not be able to issue a refund.

Here’s Groupon’s fine print: “You can use most Groupons the day after you purchase them. You can use most Groupons the day after you purchase them – our featured businesses typically request we hold back the masses on the first day while they see to the phones.”

Rosemary M.

I wanted to use tonight. I just canceled the order.

Kelly F.

As with all purchases in life (including groupons), I would really recommend reading the fine print before you buy something.

Bret S.

Molly L., when talking about La Madia’s wines, why not mention the Wine Of the Week (WOW) … each week a red and a white at $5/glass. Amazing deals, and even more amazing to accompany this groupon.

S Y.

Is there any way to use the groupon to cover anything besides pizza, up to a $34 value? Some of the appetizers and salads look delicious, and it would be nice to be able to use it for these as well. I know usually the restaurant groupons just work up to a set value, so wanted to ask. . . Thanks!

JoAnn K.

REALLY complaints! People your getting a great deal anyway you look at it! Great Pizza!

Sorry; this Groupon covers pizza alone, but we do have a wide range of available pizzas, including one with egg and Prosciutto and one with goat cheese, leeks, and pancetta (my favorite this week).

Rodrigo I.

yeah…La Madia is great…and what a great deal!
Laura….you aren’t that smart are you?….the deal is titled “$12 for 2 Pizzas”….it’s people like you that spoil everything for smart, normal people….congrats!

LOL..

Vic B.

I don’t see the usual “limit one per person” condition so does this mean I could get two and come back twice? That would be awesome!

Molly L.

You can buy as many as you want, but you can only use one per visit and one per table.
Thanks for your interest.

Angela S.

If you are a regular user of Groupon, or any dining rewards/certificates, there are usually restrictions, i.e. not valid on holidays, i.e. Valentine’s Day. I don’t think that restriction should take away from this deal or any other deal that is offered. Chicago is a great city with many fabulous restaurants, you can decide to go elsewhere other than take up space on this discussion board to complain.

And “The Fine Print” is in actually fairly large print immediately to the left of the Groupon highlights. Hard to miss and should definitely be read before asking a question.

I can vouch for the pizza at La Madia – it’s excellent. And, as mentioned by a few folks, the pizzas are personal sized – meaning they serve one (but can easily – and do – feed more than one). Since there is a limit of one Groupon to a table per visit, you could do two things – order the two pizzas for a party of two people (and take the leftovers home for lunch the next day), or order the two pizzas and share with a larger party. I, also, would recommended the WoW specials – some great wine offerings by the glass. The servers at La Madia have never steered me wrong, and the pizza always satisfies this foodie.

Regarding purchasing Groupons, always read the fine print and details on redemption before clicking the purchase option. Also, as the Groupon is good until later this summer, I cannot fathom a reason why someone would be so impatient as to need the discount right this second (or not at all). Use the Groupon in a few days (or a few weeks/months, as the case may be), and enjoy some really good food with friends.

Huei-su H.

Can I buy it as a gift and “leave it open” so I can decide whom I’ll give it to later?
Can I do this if I buy it as a gift and select “I’ll print it myself”?
Thanks for your help!

Sitting here shaking my head at some of the comments in this thread.

I’ve been to La Madia many times and this is a great deal! Two handmade gourmet pizzas for $12. Two crappy pizzas from Dominos cost $12.
Always read the fine print.

Gina G.

A little disappointed…my printer isn’t working and I wanted to use this Groupon tonight with family. I called La Madia and was told I had to have the print out of the Groupon, they wouldn’t accept the Groupon number just written down. I’m wondering why this is La Madia? I’ve done this with other Groupons in the past.

Molly L.

Gina, I’m sorry your printer is out of service. When this happens, I usually stop by a copy store and print out whatever I need (it usually costs $1 or less). We at La Madia do need the print-out for our accounting records.
Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you Groupon for introducing me to La Madia at such a great value! This was great, and it was nice to see the head chef.

We were able to sit at the pizza bar to see all the food being made and it was a bonus to receive a free glass of champagne for sitting there. The food was exceptional & the staff was very friendly.

I hope this one comes back around again! Thanks & Molly hats off to you and the other staff members for a great job.

I’m looking forward to using my Groupon.

Carole K.

This was a great deal and a great introduction to La Madia. We were able to use the Groupon on a busy Saturday night. Two pizzas are plenty for four people: we were two, and boxed up about two thirds of our order. Delicious, creative choices, terrific wine selection, and sophisticated atmosphere.

Megan l.

This was a party for my tastebuds!
