During each 40-minute festive Journey to the North Pole cruise, passengers admire the Holiday Light Show’s more than 1.5 million lights, which illuminate the night sky as the boat glides over the sparkling waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene to Santa’s workshop, where Santa greets each kid by his name. At the toy workshop, a living, animated Christmas tree with more than 30,000 sparkling LED lights soars to nearly twice the height of New York City's Rockefeller Center tree. The cruises run from November 23 through January 1, 2013. They depart from the Boardwalk Marina at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., as well as additional times to accommodate demand. Children 12 and younger are admitted for free.

As Christmas approaches, the ship decks fill with wide-eyed audiences who drink in spectacular holiday-light shows on their way to Santa’s workshop and a towering illuminated Christmas tree. The winter also brings New Year’s Eve cruises; a party cruise hosts live DJs, dancing, and ice-luge drinks, and a more relaxed dessert cruise features classic pop music—but both give passengers unparalleled views of fireworks and fill champagne glasses for toasts to another year without alien invasion.
