After an initial consultation, clients relax in a reclining chair as a surgeon-piloted laser system modifies cornea shapes in an effort to increase the eye's ability to absorb light. The approximately 10-minute restructuring reduces or eliminates clients' dependence on spectacles and contact lenses, and most patients can return to work within 24–48 hours. Staff members help clients maintain their sharpened sight with up to one year of follow-up visits. Clients also receive an after-surgery care kit that includes artificial tears to reduce redness, sunglasses to negate strain, and a shield to deflect the jealous stares of monocle-wearing coworkers. Patients can opt to apply their Groupon toward an upgraded service, with costs to be determined during the initial consultation. Though Laser Eye Center has been around since 1986, its technology is nothing less than modern.
