From Wednesday, February 6, through Tuesday, February 12, Leonardo Trattoria joins New Orleans in celebrating Mardi Gras. Whether for a single day or throughout the entire festival, pass holders can stop in at the restaurant to indulge in a buffet of Italian favorites and, if selected, an open bar, effectively fueling their party engines for more revelry. The passes also include access to the grandstand and balcony during all the parades, letting holders see the sights and colors without grafting pogo sticks to their shoes.

Leonardo Trattoria

Pots of bubbling water cook freshly made pasta until it’s ready to join meatballs and calamari on plates doused in zesty sauces. Nearby, pizzas are loaded with prosciutto, shrimp, and roasted garlic, while fresh mozzarella rains over a pizza crust headed for a wood-fired oven. Leonardo Trattoria forgoes local New Orleans food influences, instead maintaining “a focus on Sicilian dishes and cooking styles,” as Ian McNulty of Gambit writes. The full-fledged Italian atmosphere continues in the dining room, where flat-screen TVs mounted on brick walls play Italian mobster movies or hours of footage of Dante’s writing desk. Outside, lush foliage hangs from a second-story balcony, adding to the ambiance that helped the eatery snag a diners’ choice award for outdoor dining from OpenTable readers.

The Groupon Guide to: Talking to Celebrities

Everyone knows that celebrities are just as excited to see you in real life as you are to see them. Here are the best ways to initiate conversations with your favorite stars of stage and screen:

  • "Hi, I loved you in [name of movie or chef competition]. Speaking of love, would you ever consider playing tennis with me, a fan? Speaking of fans, have you ever been on one of those weird boats in the Everglades?"

  • "Whoa! It's you! My parents are always trying to tell me you aren't real and that you're one of those computer-generated cartoons like Shriek from Shriek 2. You should talk to them. They're at the other end of this rope."

  • "Hey, you're from that movie where the characters ate the pizza! Will you autograph this coupon for free breadsticks with the purchase of a large eight-meat?"

  • "You must hear this all the time, but I've gotta ask. Is that your real hair?" [tug hair jokingly] [tug again depending on response]

  • "Where do I know you from? Don't tell me. Don't ever tell me. I need to do this myself. I can't say for sure what would happen if you told me."

If you’d like to talk to my parents, follow this rope.
