    With the air turning crisp, the leaves turning red and gold, and shuttered Circuit City locations turning into Halloween stores, there is no better season for sipping from a mug of warm, spiced cider, wine, or ale. Libations Bar School owner Jesse Dean gets into the spirit of the season by teaching students how to mull each beverage with a blend of cloves, cinnamon, citrus, vanilla, and nutmeg—all handpicked from the spices, herbs, barks, and roots available at The Spice & Tea Exchange, where class is held. After discovering the best wines and ales for mulling and mastering the delicate proportions of spices, students get to partake of each other's concoctions. They'll leave with recipes to enliven both Halloween parties and winter wassailing. Classes are currently scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, but more sessions may be added depending on demand. Call ahead to confirm dates and times.

Libations Bar School

Libations Bar School educates aspiring barkeeps with multiple levels of programs ranging from full licensing courses down to individual workshops designed for entertainment. In the "Drink This" series of fun, upbeat classes, amateur mixologists learn how to craft popular cocktails under the tutelage of Master Barman and Libations owner Jesse Dean. Along with imparting a mastery of bartending techniques and finesses, Dean dedicates his school's mission to promoting imagination and seeking out new, fresh concepts similar to the Prohibition-era breakthrough of actually drinking moonshine rather than pouring it over senators' heads.
