During adult sessions, currently held on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., attendees can unleash their inner creativity by working on either guided projects or their own creations. Sessions give attendees the chance to socialize with fellow artists as they sip on tea or coffee and absorb the lessons on technique or history that open each session. At the conclusion of classes, painters, sculptors, and sketchers often switch roles from creators to critics by participating in supportive group feedback sessions. Classes are generally capped at 10 attendees.

Open to kids aged 6–12, afterschool art sessions occur on Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m. and tackle a range of fun projects in the comfort of a small-class environment. Youth art sessions, open to kids aged 10 or older, take place on Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. All kids' sessions give students the freedom to follow a project from conception to completion, with the older kids broadening their horizons with traditional instruction and the introduction of historical context. Students are asked to bring a coil-bound sketchpad and apron to each session.

See here for a complete list of all classes. Classes can be scheduled on any day of the week, provided enough participants register.

Lisa Powers

Inspired by the vivacious, detail-oriented work of Norman Rockwell, Lisa Powers picked up a brush at the age of 10 and hasn’t stopped flecking her way toward mastery ever since. After obtaining a fine-arts degree from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Powers threw herself into the arts, supplementing her brushwork with forays into the studies of both psychology and sociology. Today, she draws influence from the work of modern masters—from Toulouse-Lautrec's belle époque lithographs to Lichtenstein's comics-inspired pop art—to create evocative mixed-media work. During her art classes and studio sessions, Powers calls upon her years of experience as she helps established artists perfect their techniques and younger artists develop an understanding of the colours that will really pop against a refrigerator-hued backdrop.
