Little Venice or Accanto
The real recipe underlying Little Venice—more fundamental than the veal loin scaloppini or the handmade imported pasta—is a strong sense of family. At the front of the house, Alberto Mastromano greets guests with the warmth of a brother, while in the kitchen his actual flesh-and-blood brother Peppino prepares fresh pastas, seafood, and steaks. Peppino and his cooks make everything from scratch, from the sauces and the hand-trimmed meats to the sweaters woven from angel-hair pasta.
Next door, Accanto welcomes guests to loosen their ties and kick back in lounge-style seating, amid hand-colored cast concrete tabletops and a vast wall mural. Equal parts eatery and social destination, this establishment welcomes guests to enjoy cocktails and wine or sample award-winning chef Ryan Baldwin’s bone-in pork chop and IPA-braised pork belly sliders. To boot, Accanto boasts three large TVs and WiFi access.
