Horse racing is often called "The Sport of Kings," a throwback to the days when the cultural elite would amuse itself by watching horses race each other atop local monarchs. Though the rules of the sport have changed slightly, the palpable excitement remains, and today's Groupon will let you palpate it all day: for $25, you get a race day package at Los Alamitos Race Course (a $68 value). A long-time leader in Orange County's quarter horse racing tradition, Los Alamitos Race Course hosts exciting, 400-yard horse dashes for some of the priciest purses in the country. The Vessels Club is an elegant facility whose top-of-the-grandstand location offers great views of the finish line, downtown San Francisco, and blimps piloted by Pat Boone. Inside, you can use the $10 food voucher toward fine cuisine consumed while watching the race from the patio. The club enforces a mercilessly upscale dress code, so make sure you're dressed in proper attire, such as a tuxedo or a T-shirt made from the canvas of famous works of art. Stop in to see a live race on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. (Post time is 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; 5:30 p.m. on Sunday).
