Maki Sushi & Noodle Shop

Maki Sushi & Noodle Shop earned city-worthy praise in both the Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune for the elegant simplicity that characterizes both its menu and décor. Japanese letters run down the floor-to-ceiling murals that color the bright eatery’s mint-green walls, flanking a sushi bar centerpiece where more than 20 seats rest courtside as master chefs churn out dozens of maki rolls and sashimi. The clean lines of the eatery’s exposed brick pillars and polished wood-grain floors spill over into lunchtime bento boxes, which compartmentalize protein such as crabmeat fried rice or chicken katsu, and into the delicate flutes of martini glasses filled with fruit-infused takes on the classic cocktail. Equipped with a glass-enclosed wine cellar, Maki Sushi’s lower level lounge plays host to private get-togethers, corporate happy hours, and very short games of hide-and-seek.

The Groupon Guide to: Modern New Year's Resolutions

Society is changing faster than many of us can keep up, so it’s more important than ever that you dedicate the following year to one or more of these modern New Year’s resolutions:

  • I will gradually shift out all the air bubbles out from beneath the adhesive screen protector of my smartphone or tablet device.

  • I will limit my daily Internet time to 27 hours a day.

  • I will only buy my developing infants garish toys patterned in black, red, and white so the muscles behind their tiny eyes grow stronger with each glance.

  • I will pop only when I trust myself to be able to stop.

  • I will lose weight by joining nature’s gym: parkour.

  • I will finish at least three Kindles.

Can these modern New Year’s resolutions transform your entire life?
