Dinner menus unfold to reveal starters such as tiger prawns sautéed in madeira wine and shallots in a creamy tomato sauce ($12.95), or fresh tomato bruschetta piled onto crusty, toasted bread ($7.95). Pastas include tender orecchiette mingling with pancetta, prosciutto, parmesan, and pecorino in a creamy tomato sauce ($16.95), and fettuccine draped in a thick bolognese sauce ($16.95). Chefs sear cuts of veal in a port-wine sauce with roasted garlic, plating beneath gorgonzola, dried figs, and rosemary, and complemented by sips of wine by the glass ($8+) or bottle ($28+).

Marcello Ristorante

Inside Marcello Ristorante, a beveled wood ceiling draws the eye down to the dining room's centerpiece––an enormous copper-hewn pillar that houses a smoldering fireplace. Its warmth matches that of the rich prawn-, pancetta-, and eggplant-laden sauces of Marcello's expansive pasta offerings, all served amid wooden wine shelves and colorful abstract paintings. Tomato- and mozzarella-based starters prepare palates for a second course of sautéed veal or chicken in a delicate wine sauce. After enjoying a glass of chianti or prosecco on the rustic garden patio, guests can return inside and peruse Marcello's decorative wall pieces, which include vases, patterned china, and jugs stained with the brittle remains of Louis Pasteur's first milk mustache.
