$89 for a Children’s Summer Art Camp ($178 Value)

From Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26, Emmy-winning artist and educator Mark Kistler leads an in-person summer art camp to teach kids aged 8–14 or older how to break through the page’s second dimension and give their visual creations depth, volume, and perspective. Students benefit from Mark’s easy-to-learn techniques and are also treated to live webcasts from special guest artists such as comic-book artist Rod Thornton.

The five-day camp includes two 60-minute sessions per day, and students are encouraged to register for both. This Groupon is only valid for sessions 2 and 3, held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 1:00 p.m., respectively.

Mark Kistler's Virtual Classroom

TV viewers may know cartoonist Mark Kistler from his starring roles in Public Television's The Secret City, The Draw Squad, or the Emmy-winning Imagination Station. But perhaps his biggest role is that of art educator. In more than 7,000 school assembly workshops worldwide, Mark teaches kids of all ages, including adults, easy-to-learn, step-by-step techniques to turn blank pages into grinning sharks, soaring jet planes, or houses frolicking on two legs—literally anything they can imagine. He emphasizes drawing and doodling in three dimensions, showing drawers how to give depth to their creations.
