Maybelle's Cafe

With its fair-trade and organic coffees roasted in Brooklyn, organic teas, and complimentary WiFi, Maybelle’s Cafe might seem like just a cheery coffee shop, but it’s more than that. It’s a place where omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans can all stop for a hearty breakfast, lunch, or dinner made with local produce and organic eggs.

Breakfast, which is served all day, includes short and tall pancake stacks, omelets with goat cheese and scallions, and vegan scrambled tofu with fake bacon. After 11 a.m., lunch starts rolling out of the kitchen—catfish po-boys, pork-shoulder sandwiches, and black-bean burgers. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the café serves dinner, including seafood platters and blackened, seared tofu on collard greens.

Maybelle's Cafe is also a place for dogs—Maybelle herself is one. Outside, canine customers can rest their weary paws, standing guard against the imminent cat revolution while their people sit on a bench unaware, sipping iced drinks in the warm sun.
