$59 for a Beginners' Digital-Photography Course on Sunday, April 14 ($424 Value)

During the five-hour beginners' digital-photography course—taking place April 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center—instructors help larval shutterbugs understand the intricate features of their digital instruments and use them to capture artful compositions. Although any digital camera may be used, students will get the most out of the class by bringing a high-quality camera with a manual mode. This Groupon also includes a $25 voucher for ten 8"x10" prints from OneClickPix.com.

McKay Photography Academy

Bearing the titles of Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman from Professional Photographers of America, David and Ally McKay embody the keen vision and aesthetic prowess that separated good photographers from great ones. They share these skills during classes at McKay Photography Academy, where they train eyes, fingers, and imaginations to work in tandem as a snapshooting dream machine. Their classes help aspiring photographers progress from neophytes to seasoned pros; the Beginning Digital Photography course teaches students to harness the intricacies of their instruments, and the Pro Academy offers inside tips on how to successfully snap wedding portraits, pose recent grads, or tease out candid emotions. When not busy instructing the next generation of shutterbugs, David and Ally also devise photo safaris, which send small teams of photographers to capture shots of famed landmarks including San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge; the Lincoln Memorial of Washington, DC; or Yosemite's 60-foot statue of Yogi Bear.

The Groupon Guide to: Shoveling Snow

If you don't remove snow, it will build up until it covers your car, house, and even your four tall brothers who stay outside guarding the house. Here's how you can free your property from this white monster:

  • Start by picking out your shovel. The proper shovel size is as long as your arm span and large enough to incapacitate a raccoon.

  • Use the proper form when shoveling so that you don't hurt your back. Proper form is to squat all the way down on the ground, lay the shovel full of snow across your knees, and then stand up very suddenly, jerking the shovel above your head and holding it with both hands.

  • Remove the snow from your front walkway first. It might be snowing outside, but you still never know when an attractive salesperson or giant-check delivery man might stop by.

  • Continue by shoveling all of the snow from the front yard and putting it in the street. Look at all of the grass you freed.

I'll handle that raccoon.
