Memphis Fitness Kickboxing's instructors impart skills and techniques for punches, kicks, and resistance-training basics during more than 30 weekly classes for students aged 13 and older. Guided by one of nine experienced instructors, participants of all skill and experience levels build speed and stamina as they jab, hook, knee, and rap battle a 200-pound bag over the course of 40–50 minutes. In addition to melting calories with muay-thai-inspired round kicks and Western boxing drills, students cultivate strong, flexible cores with yoga poses and abdominal exercises. Dumbbells, resistance bands, and weighted balls fortify the remaining muscle groups, rendering easy everyday tasks such as lifting grocery bags and shot-putting trash bags.

As cardio kickboxing became a fitness phenomenon, the underlying self-defense aspects of the workout began to fade into the background. Memphis Fitness Kickboxing’s team of professional fighters seeks to rekindle the fundamentals that form the foundation of this martial art. With backgrounds that include college wrestling, MMA competition, and full contact staring contests, the team members bring a fighting background to each physical fitness class.

The studio consists of multiple heavy bags suspended from the ceiling, which allows students to train side-by-side on their own bag. The high-energy workouts are suited to any fitness level as instructors encourage guests to train at their own pace.
