Lasting just a few minutes apiece, each photofacial aims to remedy discoloration caused by sun damage, rosacea, spider veins, and angiomas. During the session, a technician moves the Palomar RejuveLux hand piece gently across the skin, emitting pulses of light that are absorbed and converted to heat. Light pulses promote collagen production in the dermis and can restore skin to a more youthful state. Following the treatment, patients may experience a mild, sunburn-like sensation and minor swelling, which can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs. Pre- and post-treatment topical solutions will also be provided to help to alleviate any irritation.
