Unlike such vessels as drinking glasses, veins, and Björk's 2003 DVD Vessel, boats are capable of flotation. Today's deal buoys the boat-curious with a one-day admission to the Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail for $8, a $16 value for adults. Your Groupon is good for the day of your choosing between Friday, February 12, and Monday, February 15. Kids younger than 12 are free when accompanied by an adult, and those aged 13–15 can get in for a cool $6.

More than 2,000 exhibitors will flood the Miami Beach Convention Center and Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center, showing off the latest in boating gear, accessories, and know-how. Boat show shuttle buses will run throughout the day, taking visitors between the two locations. Hundreds of wave-slicing and edge-cutting boats will be on display alongside thousands of new products and watery innovations (coming in 2011: compasses!). More than 100,000 enthusiasts are expected to attend this year's event, making this the largest gathering of mermaids and aquamen above sea level.

In addition to the tangible, there is a plethora of intangible wisdom to soak up inside the calm waters of the show. Stop by the Big Game Room to catch a few seminars, grab a drink, meet the Florida Marlins dance team, and play grown-up games while picking up tips on reeling in the most articulate fishies from the sea. If you've always dreamed about owning a boat (while being chased and falling naked in slow motion) but thought it would be financially unfeasible, visit the Affordability Pavilion for tips on how to create physical manifestations of your figments. Bring in the family to take the first mate's course, where future pirates and gentlepersons of leisure will learn about boating lingo, basic safety, and the rules of the water.
