Commonly Asked Questions

Is this class for beginners too?

Mary Anne W. asked 7 months, 14 days, and 39 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. Yes, our classes are designed for beginner and intermediate SLR (interchangable-lens) cameras. Most of our attendants use entry level SLRs. I suggest beginners start with our Basic SLR Class or a manufacture specific class, such as the Canon or Nikon class.

Michael L. answered 7 months, 13 days, 1 hour, and 57 minutes ago

Hi, I am very interested in this calss but could you tell me if there is additional information learned at this one compared to the free one that you offer at the library? Thanks so much. Candace

Candace G. asked 7 months, 14 days, and 18 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. Great question. Our library classes attract a lot of compact camera users and we keep the information very basic as to not exclude them. There is some information in the library classes that will overlap the information in our Basic SLR class, but not much. All of our other classes are specifically for SLR (interchangable-lens) camera users. I suggest starting with the Basic SLR class, which will help you get out of the automatic mode and more comfortable with other modes or the manufacture specific classes, like Canon or Nikon In-Depth (depending on what brand you have of course). The "In-Depth" classes are all about the buttons, dials and menus on your brand of camera. Thanks!

I have a Canon T2i. I want to know what all you teach? Thank you.

Shilpa asked 7 months, 13 days, 20 hours, and 43 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. We have 9 classes in our series total. They range from a very general SLR class, to editing with Photoshop and specific classes like Sports Photography. We also do special workshops not in our regular series thoughout the year. A complete list of our classes is at www.michaellambphotography.com. I suggest Rebel users start with Basic SLR, which is designed to get you out of automatic and comfortable with other modes on your dial and/or the Canon In-Depth class which is all about the buttons, dials and menus on your camera. Thanks!

Michael L. answered 7 months, 13 days, 1 hour, and 37 minutes ago

could someone find out if this might be a good class to learn how to use my camera which is a canon rebel T3? If so, interested in classes Thanks, Susan Richardson from Simpsonville,SC

Susan R. asked 7 months, 13 days, 15 hours, and 52 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. Yes, most of our attendants are Rebel users, or a similar entry-level camera of another brand. I suggest the Basic SLR Class which will teach you how to get out of the "green" mode and the Canon In-Depth class which will teach you what all the buttons, dials, and many menus are and how to best use/change them. Thank you.

Do you have to have a special type camera and have knowledge/experience to take this class?

Kathleen K. asked 7 months, 14 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. Our classes are designed for SLR (interchangable-lens) cameras. Most of our attendants have entry-level cameras and are beginners, so no knowledge/experience is necessary. If you have a compact camera, consider taking one of our free classes held at area libraries. There is a full list of classes at www.michaellambphotography.com. If you have a SLR, start with the Basic SLR class or a manufacture class such as the Canon In-Depth class. Thanks!

Is there an age limit? I might like to give this to my daughter for her birthday. She is turning 14 next month.

Kathryn F. asked 7 months, 13 days, 17 hours, and 36 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. No there is no age limit on these classes. We have a lot of teens attend, with or without a parent, and they seem to get a lot out of them. Thank you.

I am interested in purchasing this deal for my grandaughter and she would only be able to come on Saturdays or when there is no school. What are the hours for these classes???

pat t. asked 7 months, 13 days, 21 hours, and 55 minutes ago - 1 answer

Hello. I am afraid we do not offer Saturday classes, but that's a great idea and may be something we do in the future. Our classes usually start at 6PM so that students and adults have time to their from school or work. Most classes end at 8PM. Thank you.
