In a Nutshell

With open flames dancing before groups, participants glaze their pottery, then have it fired over flames until colors harden and shine

The Fine Print

Expires 180 days after purchase. Limit 1 per person. Valid only for option purchased. Reservation required. The make-your-own option requires that the piece be delivered to the merchant by Tuesday of the week of the firing. Merchant is solely responsible to purchasers for the care and quality of the advertised goods and services.

Painting pottery takes a steady hand, an eye for color, and a mouth that won't eat paint, because that kills you. Have a safe, fun, safe time with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $30 for a BYOB raku-firing session for two (up to a $60 value)
  • $15 for a BYOB raku-firing session for one (up to a $30 value)

One Friday per month from 6–9 p.m., groups gather to turn pottery into works of art. Participants can choose a piece of pre-made pottery at the facility, schedule to make their own pottery by the Tuesday before the firing, or bring in a piece from home to glaze and fire. The raku style of firing is a multistep process that involves heating the glazed pottery with a type of propane-fired kiln, then flame-firing it before giving it a water-bath. All materials are included. See the next available date here.

Mighty Mud

The pottery lining the shelves inside Mighty Mud almost looks like it could have come from an archaeological excavation. With glaze jobs that call to shabby-chic sensibilities or enhance they clay’s hand-worked grooves, each work would be at home either on a windowsill or in a museum. The fun begins when it comes time to make these pieces. Mighty Mud offers classes that teach students how to throw clay, operate a pottery wheel, and build figures by hand. Kids even get their own set of classes catered just to them, and group raku firings happen once a month when the firing process is turned into a group BYOB activity.
