Miguelito's Mexican Restaurant’s restaurant wrangles a wide selection of traditional Mexican plates in a Texan lasso of golden flautas, enchiladas, and sizzling fajitas. Culinary tag-teams can swan dive into the Mexican shrimp cocktail, laden with diced cubes of fresh avocado, or revel in the irony of extinguishing hunger with the queso flameado's flaming jack cheese, which bubbles into juicy morsels of beef, chicken, or both. With first courses wallowing in stomach-shaped graves, starter plates rescind to the kitchen in place of entrees. Fajita enchiladas dinners flaunt two cheese-filled tortillas topped with beef or chicken fajita meat, and the gigante flauta smuggles shredded chicken, cheese, and pico de gallo within its crispy tortilla walls. Couples or twins joined at the fork can also pair the succulent sautéed chicken breast of the pollo diablo with the savory plantains of the lightly grilled tilapia a la parilla.
Miguelito's Mexican Restaurant
When they opened Miguelito's Mexican Restaurant more than 15 years ago, Michael and Gabby Nevares poured their combined years of management expertise into an eatery focused on fun and flavor. Mexican and American favorites dot the menu, including fish or brisket tacos and queso flameado, a dish of jack cheese lit tableside to melt over shrimp, chorizo, or unpaid parking tickets. American-style chicken-fried steak contrasts with classic house-made tamales or lighter entrees of grilled tilapia with cilantro rice and plantains.
Though Michael passed away in 2004, his spirit lives on at Miguelito's. The man who has rubbed elbows with Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood would surely be proud to see the M-Lounge area, which opened in 2009. Lit by funky, jeweled chandeliers, the space features six flat-screen TVs, large leather couches, and is available for private parties and events. Behind the full tiki-style bar lined with wrought-iron chairs, bartenders mix signature margaritas and pour imported and domestic brews into glasses or adult water balloons. The restaurant is open seven days a week.
Consistently good Tex Mex...best of all-their fresh salsa is delicious..nd they're not stingy with it like some other places.Carol A., Urbanspoon, 8/29/09
The food was full of flavor like the real Mexican food from south of the border.Silvano F., Urbanspoon, 7/12/10
