During the original tour, guides lead groups of up to 13 guests through the Victorian-era structure that once served as a speakeasy and brothel. The Haunted 2.0 Tour digs deeper into the seedy underbelly of Shaker's history as a former bordello.
For the truly adventurous, staying in the haunted penthouse gets guests an overnight dose of paranormal activity, as well as a complimentary ghost tour. Guests can cozy up by the wood fireplace, take a dip in the jacuzzi, and enjoy the breeze from the private outdoor deck. But once the sun sets, the room can transition from cozy to creepy. Previous tenants have reported moving objects and spirits, which could show up during your stay. Hotel stays also include a Death in the Afternoon absinthe cocktail as well as a tote bag.
Milwaukee's Haunted Penthouse, Part of Shaker's Cigar Bar
Nights aren't always restful at Milwaukee's Haunted Penthouse. It's located inside Shaker's Cigar Bar, which since 1894 has been home to a cemetery, a speakeasy, and a brothel, and seen its share of murders. It's no wonder, then, that previous penthouse guests have experienced paranormal activity. While ghosts are not guaranteed to visit, many people have reported mysterious crashes in the night and ghostly specters roaming the halls.
An overnight stay could begin with an absinthe cocktail (included in every visit) before visitors take a dip in the hot tub or warm themselves by the wood fireplace. Guests can also tour the entire premises by taking part in one of their nightly ghosts tours, which cover the mysterious history of the bar, from its stint as a brothel in the '20s to the secret of how bartenders get the glassware so clean.
