An experienced guide leads guests through the Miramonte Winery estate's vineyards and to stops at the crush pad, barrel room, and veranda—a massive patio shaded with arbors entwined with lights. After the tour, the same guide walks guests through a tasting of rotating premium wines. During the appreciation class, an instructor introduces basic wine-tasting techniques and teaches participants to apply them during a sampling of eleven premium wines – five white, five red, and one sangria. Each beverage is paired with a different food: cheese, crostini with tapenade, sun-dried tomato paste, and chocolate. Following the class, visitors return to the veranda for a complimentary glass of sangria.
The winery experience also includes 10% off regular wine bottles, 25% off cheese board and 30% off a custom-etched bottle for purchases made on the day of the visit. Etched wine is Kinderwood brand, while etched champagne is Woodbridge brand. Bottles can be custom-etched with messages for weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries, and are handmade. Orders take 3–5 days to produce and ship. Upgrades, tax, and shipping is an extra fee.
High atop a hill in the Temecula valley, surrounded by clear blue skies and lush rows of Rhone grapes, sits Miramonte Winery, where the winemakers soulfully craft their red wines, off dry rosés, and inspired whites. A big, open veranda wraps around the building to provide an airy venue for wine tastings, and Mojo, the winery dog, curiously greets visitors before going off to lay in the sun.
The deep flavors and aromas in Miramonte's wines come not only from the way the Rhone grapes grow in the valley, but also from the expertise of winemaker Reinhard Schlassa and passion of owner Cane Vanderhoof. A UC Davis alum, Schlassa has made wines with icons of the industry on three continents, and he continues to perfect his craft at Miramonte Winery.
