Miranda's Kitchen

Loryann doesn't allow shortcuts in her kitchen. She makes her pasta from scratch, shreds her own meat, and doesn't add preservatives. After she was laid off from a high-powered corporate job, she began to indulge her love of cooking by preparing fresh meals for her family. Eventually, she decided to transform that passion into a career that would allow her to prepare wholesome dishes for busy families who don't have the time to make healthy meals from scratch.

Her seasonal menu of dishes—which she delivers straight to her customers' doors—rotates to include choices such as mesquite pork chops, turkey meatloaf, and white chicken chili. Kid-friendly choices include four-cheese mac ‘n’ cheese and oven-baked chicken nuggets made from fresh tenders. Loryann tests the meals on her own family to make sure kids will love them and not try to surreptitiously feed them to dogs or estranged uncles hiding out beneath the table. She also includes breakfast choices, as well as side dishes and desserts, to make mealtime even easier.

Loryann also started making baby food after reading about the ingredients in regular baby food. She decided she couldn't feed it to her daughter, Miranda, so she started whipping up her own homemade flavors. Realizing she could help other parents feed their babies more healthful meals, she started her Miranda's Best line of baby food. And because Miranda lost her grandfather to thyroid cancer, Miranda's Kitchen donates part of its proceeds to a thyroid-cancer foundation.
