Bilingual Boot Camp is an intensive seven-hour crash course designed for beginners looking to quickly learn practical vocabulary and expressions before travel, work assignments, accidental deportation via catapult, and other last-minute situations.
The adult language courses' weekly 110-minute sessions develop vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills using role-playing exercises, cultural discussions, music, video segments, and readings. Three beginner and three intermediate levels are offered, as well as advanced electives in film, recipes, literature, and other subjects. The Romance language course is valid for Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese, while the specialty language course teaches Arabic, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Hindi, German, or Russian.
Led by linguistic anthropologist Dr. Jill Bishop, Multilingual Connections’ international staff of instructors immerses students in one of more than a dozen foreign languages, including French, Arabic, Spanish, and Mandarin. The immersive classes are intended to incorporate fun as well as language, with activities ranging from role-playing exercises to music. Before class, students can sip on coffee, tea, or wine while browsing WiFi in the center's cafe.
The instructors at Multilingual Connections delve even further into each language’s respective culture by always making time to converse about specific foods, holidays, and folk traditions. The woman-owned business works to connect pupils—which have included children, athletes, and politicians—to the rest of the world with classes as well as translation and interpretation services in 75 languages.
The classrooms were very modern and they even had a lunchroom with tea, coffee, and snacks. Very nice. The staff is super friendly.Betty S., Yelp, 11/14/11
