The Fine Print

Standup paddleboarding was invented when an impatient surfer brought out a weapon to beat the waveless ocean into compliance. Enjoy the calm he accidentally discovered with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $49 for a 90-minute standup-paddleboard tour for two (a $110 value)
  • $89 for a 90-minute standup-paddleboard tour for four (a $220 value)

Tour guides meet patrons along the Indian River and introduce them to the basics of paddleboarding. During lessons, instructors teach students proper foot placement and board control as well as how to turn and outsing sirens. Then they set out on guided tours, where groups traverse the scenic, mangrove-lined Indian River, serenely gliding across the tranquil waters. Check the calendar for scheduled tours.

New Smyrna Stand Up

For years, New Smyrna residents have paddled throughout the marshy backwaters of the Indian River lagoon, finding solace among the area's gentle tides, unclouded skies, and abundance of marine life. United by a respect for their natural surroundings and a knack for paddleboarding, a local family joined forces to form the award-winning New Smyrna Stand Up. With dolphins and manatees swimming below and ospreys sailing above, the experienced guides lead tours down the river, journeying out into the ocean when weather permits. In the summer months, the center conducts children's camps, in which youngsters learn paddleboarding techniques while exploring the area's ecosystem. They study local wildlife and marine creatures and learn to identify the origins of passing inner-tubers by the shape of their heads. In addition to tours and camps, the staff offers paddleboard rentals and standup-paddleboard surfing lessons.

The Groupon Guide to: Still-Life Painting

Still-life paintings are the easiest kind to do because everything you’re painting is already dead, thus holding still. Try out these subjects for your next still life:

  • A skull being used as a vase
  • A bunch of mangoes in a bowl but one of them is purple
  • Two teakettles. They don’t have faces, but do they somehow seem to be … talking to each other?
  • Onions
  • The bust of an ancient emperor sitting on a little girl’s nightstand
  • A wooden table strewn with a bunch of dead quail
  • A harpsichord gathering dust in a corner while a shiny electric guitar sits, well cared for, in a stand
  • A man’s hat, pipe, and book all sit on his chair, which has the imprint of his body, but there is no sign of the man.
  • A bunch of absurdly wet fruit

What can you do with a bunch of absurdly wet fruit?
