Choose Between Two Options

During daylong classes, novices learn the fundamentals of sailing, both in the classroom and on the water. After spending an hour on land learning about the Sonar 23 sailboat, students cruise across the Long Island Sound under the watchful eye of their ASA-certified instructor to learn to trim the sails, take control of the tiller, and read gusts’ long-winded poetry across the water.

New York Sailing School

The ASA-certified instructors of New York Sailing School have been teaching the exhilarating art since 1968. With access to a fleet of beginner-friendly Sonar 23 skiffs, they instruct courses both on land and water, venturing out into the Long Island Sound with tender-footed aquanauts and Waterworld fanboys alike. NYSS alumni and ASA-certified sailors are also welcome to rent boats for daytime jaunts across the water for up to 2.5 hours.
