The dinner menu includes shrimp risotto with fava beans, pancetta, and asiago ($17); braised short-rib ravioli topped with a sunny-side-up egg and black-truffle jus ($19); and a Moroccan-spiced lamb burger ($14).

Nico

Inside Nico’s dining room, brocade wallpaper creeps up to high ceilings, where modern-style chandeliers hang over wooden tables and bright-green booths. Amid this scene, or outdoors under bright red umbrellas, the wait staff brings dishes that showcase original twists on traditional flavors hailing from Spain, Morocco, Italy, and France. Pastas, steaks, and seafood stews are the highlights of the dinner menu, while lunchers dine on sandwiches and weekend brunchers sample omelets and Catalonian sausage.

In a time of burger fatigue, Nico’s spicy merguez lamb sausage burger is a standout, like something you’d nosh on from a street vender

The interior is surprisingly large, with soft gray walls and well-spaced tables, including several along the window

“Very sorry it's being converted to a barbecue restaurant, Salt and Smoke, I believe. But the chef remains. We had four great dishes (cauliflower salad, beet soup, crab croquetas, and shaved brussel sprout salad. We regret that we won't see them again, and hope that the new restaurant or FRanco (a brother restaurant) adopts these savory orphans.”
