Northeast Scuba caters to aquatic wanderers of all levels by teaching the necessities for scuba excursions and renting or selling the requisite equipment. The Try Scuba experience introduces subaquatic novices to the art of breathing underwater with one to two hours of basic classroom instruction and pool orientation. During the orientation, students dip their toes into the deep waters of scuba, trying out gear and learning diving basics, before walking away with snorkels to facilitate napping in the bathtub.
In both open-water programs, trained scuba professionals lead their charges through two of the three steps necessary for full certification: academic instruction and confined-water skills. Brains fill with lessons on equipment, underwater physics, and piscine swear words in the classroom, whereas confined-water sessions let knowledge become power as pupils practice their technique. Afterward, referral-program followers receive paperwork that qualifies them to partake in future open-water dives through another facility, and certification-program students ready themselves for four open-water dives. Each aquatic voyage illuminates the marine life of New England’s waters, gifts divers real-world practice, and facilitates filing tax returns via message in a bottle.
For the certification program, the rental fee also covers equipmpent use during all four open-water dives.
