Whale-watching tours offer intimate glimpses of marine life, a luxury once reserved exclusively for those brave enough to dunk their heads into a lobster tank. Witness a less pinchy natural wonder with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $59 for a whale-watching cruise for two (up to a $96 value)
  • $99 for a whale-watching cruise for four (up to a $192 value)

Four-hour whale-watching expeditions cruise up to 20 miles out to sea in the attempt to spot humpback, finback, and minke whales. An on-board naturalist guides the cruise and also points out North Atlantic white-sided dolphins, basking sharks, ocean sunfish, sea turtles, and seabirds when they appear. Snacks and beverages are available in the enclosed galley and snack bar, which has a full liquor license, seating, and tables.

The whale-watching season runs from May 11 through October 15. No matter the time of year, the captain recommends that passengers bring an extra layer of clothing. See the full schedule for more details.

Odyssey Whale Watch

Bubbles break the surface of the water as the beast makes its way upward for a breath of fresh air. Suddenly, her back can be seen atop the waves as her spout releases a geyser-like explosion of air and water. From the decks of Odyssey Whale Watch’s vessels, passengers take in sights such as these and further their understanding of the creatures with the help of an on-board naturalist, who identifies humpback, finback, and minke whale species. His job is made all the easier by the cruise ship’s captain, an experienced mariner who has committed to memory the most densely populated feeding areas for Maine’s massive mammalian residents, which often hang out about 20 miles off shore. In addition to whale-watching tours, Odyssey Whale Watch takes passengers out on deep-sea fishing trips to reel in cod, haddock, and mackerel.

The Groupon Guide to: Shoveling Snow

If you don't remove snow, it will build up until it covers your car, house, and even your four tall brothers who stay outside guarding the house. Here's how you can free your property from this white monster:

  • Start by picking out your shovel. The proper shovel size is as long as your arm span and large enough to incapacitate a raccoon.

  • Use the proper form when shoveling so that you don't hurt your back. Proper form is to squat all the way down on the ground, lay the shovel full of snow across your knees, and then stand up very suddenly, jerking the shovel above your head and holding it with both hands.

  • Remove the snow from your front walkway first. It might be snowing outside, but you still never know when an attractive salesperson or giant-check delivery man might stop by.

  • Continue by shoveling all of the snow from the front yard and putting it in the street. Look at all of the grass you freed.

I'll handle that raccoon.
