Hungry fishermen are known to bend down by the waterside to let minnows, eager to escape life in a small pond, leap into their open mouths. Dine on a fish that made it to the big city with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of seafood and drinks at Paddy McGees Fish House & Bar on the waterfront in Island Park. This Groupon is not valid toward Paddy’s Sunday brunch.
Paddy McGees’ menus showcase roasted shellfish, Maine lobster, fried seafood, and fresh fish, as well as pasta, meat, and poultry for the aqua-averse. For lunch, test the waters of a crab & corn quesadilla ($8.50) before plunging into a plate of grilled North Atlantic salmon ($18.50), served with a warm tri-color salad and tropical fruit salsa. At dinnertime, a jumbo-shrimp cocktail ($10.50) can inebriate taste buds before they dance with lobster-and-shrimp risotto ($19.50) with arugula and seafood broth, barbecue shrimp ($18.50) with saffron, corn relish, and watermelon, or a fresh-ground, eight-ounce sirloin burger with fries ($10.50). Two or more diners can sup on Paddy’s raw-bar Feast of the Sea ($17.50 per person), a platter of clams, oysters, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and crawfish. Paddy’s serves only fresh, regional oysters and clams procured from federally inspected and certified oyster nurseries.
Paddy McGees, which is on the waterfront, is a popular spot to gaze at waves, wind-tousled tress, and baby seagulls learning to lure snails from their underground burrows. Diners can dock their boats for free on every day except Sunday, when there's a $25–$50 fee (depending on boat size).
Paddy McGees is open Thursday through Sunday until Easter, after which it will be open seven days a week.
