During the class, each student learns and utilizes basic glass-fusing techniques to create a multicolored pendant. Dichroic glass fusing results in non-reflective glass pieces with a colorful sheen from a coating that is applied during the process. The method became more popular after NASA began using it on satellites and space shuttles. Students also learn about different types of glass, plus other skills such as glass cutting and kiln firing. Classes are held daily, and include the use of studio tools.

Glass Illusions Studio

Both Pattie Johnson and her husband, Mark, have been creating glass art since the 1970s. At their full-service studio in Tucson, the couple works in all varieties of glass, from blown and fused to cast and stained. Their wide-reaching knowledge spills over into a variety of themed classes that help students of all ages learn basic techniques and forge masterpieces of their own.
