Could this be used toward progressive lenses?

Alexis P.

Julie – Yes, you can use the Groupon towards progressive lenses.

Tamara S.

You probably have to have an eye exam though right? Or can they match my existing glasses if I don’t have a paper perscription handy?

Tina M.

I just need a new pair of glasses as a back up to my contacts. Would this groupon cover the entire cost of a pair of glasses using the lowest costing frame and a thinner (doesn’t have to be the thinest) single vision lense? Thanks!

Alexis P.
Merchant

Hi Tamara – Yes, you have to have a valid prescription (within one year) in order to get new glasses. The Groupon is not valid on the eye exam, but both locations offer eye exams and you can call or book online http://www.pearlevision.com/pv/store-locator/results_FullSearch.action?destCountry=US&destAddress=&destCity=portland&destState=OR&radius2=50&x=37&y=7

Jenny G.

I live close to Washington Square. Could I purchase eyeglasses at Clackamas location using this deal and have them adjusted periodically at a location that is closer to me?

Brook S.

May I bring a paper prescription from my optometrist and use it on this deal?

May I use this for sunglasses that are no line bifocals?

If so, what is your cheapest price on something like that. Just want to get an idea of how much more I might need to spend.

Thank you!

Erin H.

would this cover prescription sunglasses?

christina b.

… or for added fun, could I use this to “design” my own NON-prescription sunglasses? (I would like to choose the frame & lens color/quality.)

Bob

I already have a prescription. I want to get tri-focals, if that’s the correct term. What would be the cost of those?
Bob

Does the groupon cover the frames and the lenses? Or I should say can it be applied to the over all cost of both? And can they be prescription sunglasses?

Jaime B.

I already have a lense prescription…do I still need an eye exam?

Megan T.

Just to make sure I understood – if I don’t want to change my current frames and just want new lenses, I can’t use the Groupon?

I happen to love my titanium lenses with no bottom rim. They just need a new nose piece and I need a new prescription and lenses.

Alexis P.
Merchant

Jenny – If you buy in Clackamas, you can take your glasses into any Pearle Vision for free cleanings and adjustments.

Other questions
– You can use on prescription sunglasses, but you cannot use on non-prescription sunglasses
- You can bring in a prescription from your optometrist, but it needs to be valid (within one year)
- The Groupon can be used toward a complete pair of glasses (frames + lenses). Depending on the frame & lens you chose, you will take the Groupon value off the final cost of the complete pair.
- The groupon can be used on both bi-focals and progressives. I need to follow up on the costs since the store is not open yet.

Alexis P.
Merchant

Megan – Correct. The Groupon can only be used on a complete pair of glasses (frames + lenses).

Alexis P.
Merchant

Bob – If you have a valid prescription you are all set. Yes, you can use on trifocals (and that is the correct term). But trifocals are becoming rarer as more people switch to progressive lenses (no lines). You may want to check it out.

I have a prescription from my optomotrist. I’m not sure if it was over a year ago though. The prescription expires in June of 2011 would I still be able to use this prescription?

Lee S.

Is your buy one get second pair free offer invalid with this Groupon?

Savannah .

I found a coupon where you can buy a complete pair of eyeglasses and get a second pair free. Can I bring this coupon to used with the groupon since I’m buying a complete pair of eyeglasses?
Just read and I happened to ask the same question as above!! :)

Savannah .

sorry one more question? do you have a limit of how many deals until sold out?

Deborah

What is the cost of an eye exam with an Optometrist st Pearle Vision

Patricia S.

Others have asked without a reply:
do you have a ballpark figure or guesstimate?
Is it possible to NOT have any additional cost and get glasses within the $225 price value?

Carolyn W.

I just called both stores, here are exam prices:

Vancouver – glasses only – $85, contacts – $150, Clakamas – glasses only – $75, contacts – $140.

The last time I bought glasses (independent store, not chain) they were over $350 for lenses and frames.

Carolyn W.

This is from “the Fine Print” of the deal, so I’m assuming you couldn’t use the 2-for-1 thing with it:

“This deal is only valid for a complete pair of eyeglasses (frames and lenses) and cannot be combined with vision insurance or other promotions.”

Deborah

Carolyn W.
Thanks for the info. :^)
It’s less than my Optometrist.

Don P.

Do both of these locations offer the same selection of frames?

Erica M.

Do you have to spend $225 or more to get the $50 deal? Let’s same my frames and lenses came to $200, would I still only pay $50?

Alexis P.
Merchant

Hello Portland!

Carolyn W. is correct. You cannot combine the Groupon with any other promotions including the buy one, get one free.

Patricia S. – If you wear single-vision glasses, then it is possible to get glasses for $225. Our frames start at $99.95 and our single-vision, scratch-resistant lenses start at $120. If you chose more expensive frames or add options to the lenses, your total will be more than $225.

Don – The frames we carry vary by store, but these stores should have a very similar frame selection.

Erica – The Groupon will take $225 off your total price, so you do not have to spend that amount (although honestly it will be hard not to). But if you do find a pair for less than $225, then you would not get money back. Make sense?

I have vision insurance. Can I use it for any balance above $225?

Alexis P.
Merchant

Hi Bob – No, I am sorry but you cannot combine the Groupon with insurance or other offers.

Amy C.

Is this Groupon valid for any and every frame in the store if used for a prescription eyeglass? Or is it “select” frames?

William B.

How much is a basic eye exam?

Amy C.

William B – If you read above, Carolyn W. posted the following:

“I just called both stores, here are exam prices:

Vancouver – glasses only – $85, contacts – $150, Clakamas – glasses only – $75, contacts – $140."

William B.

Ahh, missed that. Thanks

Joan H.

Alexis,

I wear bifocals (progressive lens).

It’s possible that the exam + a pair of bifocals will cost more than $225. Which means that I’d pay $50 for the coupon plus the amount exceeding $225.

And I have to choose frames from the selection shown under the “frames” link in the coupon description.

Right?

I just want to make sure I understand the terms of the deal.

Joan

BETTY S.

are transition lenses included?

Tanya H.

I went onto Pearle Vision’s web site and looked through the frame catalog. I am only interested in some very specific frames, particularly the designer ones (Versace, DKNY, Anne Klein, etc.). Can I use the groupon with any of these frames? If so, how can I be sure that the Clackamas and/or Vancouver locations will have the frames I want? If they don’t have them in stock, can I use the groupon to have the store special order frames, or is it only valid for frames in stock in the stores?

Thank you,
Tanya

Alexis P.
Merchant

Hi Amy & Tanya – You can use the Groupon on any frame. The store is not able to order frames. We try to put frames online that are available at most of our stores, so you should be able to find the brand in the store even if they don’t have the exact frame.

Alexis P.
Merchant

Joan – If you wear bifocals, then you cost will likely be over $225. You cannot use your Groupon on the eye exam (see prices posted previously. In addition, the cost for our basic-single vision lens is $120. Therefore, once you add bi-focals and the cost of the frame, you will be above the $225 cost. You can still use the Groupon and take the amount off of your total cost.

Also, you can apply the Groupon to any frame in the store, not just those listed online.

Betty – Yes, you can use the Groupon towards Transitions lens.

Bob B.

Are the lenses at your store plastic or glass?

Steve S.

Alexis ….. Thank you for all of your help and prompt replies. What a great deal. Getting a back up pair for my high schooler (as that is a for sure break or loss) Thanks again!!!!

Ellen S.

The ad is really really misleading. It says ‘a complete pair of eyeglasses.’ It ought to say ‘a complete pair of prescription eyeglasses.’ You cannot argue that off the shelf sunglasses are incomplete: they have frames, they have lenses, they sit on your nose and hold on to your head. Voila! a complete pair of glasses. I phoned Pearle and was told, ‘a complete pair of prescription eyeglasses.’ That is what the advertisement should say.

You also have the address wrong for the Pearle site in Vancouver. It is in Mill Plain Town Center, not Mill Town Plain Center.

brandon l.

Hello, again just to clarify. Each lens for the glasses is $120 or that is for a pair of lenses?

cm

Can this groupon be used for prescription sunglasses available at Pearle Vision?

steveN J.

It would be nice if the website let me sort the frames by price so i can get an idea of what I might be getting into before committing to the coupon. Any suggestions?

DEBI B.

Would you please tell me approximately how much no line bi-focal lenses would cost. Thank-you

GLORIA L.

I never had a choice to change the quantity of Groupons I wanted, nor did I see any place to indicate it was a gift. I must be doing something wrong because that happens every time I buy a Groupon: the quantity is grayed out so it can’t be changed, and no place does it ever ask if this is a gift. This is the 3rd deal I’ve bought and not used any of them so far.

Can I use the groupon coupon for lenses only in my current frames?

Ellen S.

I notice that most questions and comments have not been answered. Is this because Groupon is not paying attention? or because Pearle doesn’t want a) to answer b) the business we offer or c) to carry through with the Groupon commitment?

Ellen S.

Aaah, Judy — what Pearle says in the Groupon email is that the groupon is for a complete pair of glasses. What they mean, but what they did not say, is that the groupon is for a complete pair of prescription glasses (I phoned Pearle and that’s what they said, contrary to what is in the email). that means you have to buy the frames and you have to buy prescription lenses. I had hoped to buy plain sunglasses (some of them cost more than $200), but according to the person I spoke with at Pearle, that wouldn’t work. So I would conclude that no you cannot use the groupon just for lenses in your current frames.
Interesting indeed that Alexis seems to have gone to sleep and/or abandoned those who ask questions about this questionable groupon.

steveN J.

Anyone see specific prices for the various frames on their website?

Andrea R.

Long time Groupon member but first time “commenter” and I just had to say something – (especially to Ellen S) – First of all: It’s a prescription glasses business so I don’t know why you are surprised that the groupon is for prescription glasses? Secondly If we would all read “the fine print”, most of the questions would be answered. For instance: if you can use it w/insurance? It very clearly states that you can’t; and it also clearly states it’s for frames AND lenses both! Lastly, I want to thank Alexis and the other groupon staff for their patience in answering all our questions :) I for one really appreciate Groupon!

It would really be nice if their website had some prices on these frames.

Hello Portland

I am so sorry if we did not answer all of your questions. We are located in a different time zone, so it was a little challenging to answer late into the evening.

Marc – As for prices, I completely agree with you that they should be online. However, half our of stores are franchisee stores and the prices vary by location. We are working on it and hope to have a solution soon.

Let me know about your experience and if you have any additional questions.

Amber L.

This ad is VERY MISLEADING! The fine print says that it’s good toward a pair of glasses and frames but doesn’t say it doesn’t cover the cost of the exam (Many places offer this free with eyeglass purchase). I called before purchasing groupon and stated I was interested in the deal and “How much is the eye exam”? The response was “$75.” No mention that this would be an additional cost. Clearly miscommunication but when I stated that at my appointment they were sarcastic and said “if I didn’t like it I could leave-they’d already done 700 of them”. Now I’m out $50. because no one likes to be treated rudely! I’ve purchased several groupons in the past and always been treated nicely at the bussiness’, but this place acted somewhat “put out” with them. Thumbs down to Clackamas Pearle Vision!

Alexis P.

Amber – I am sorry that you had a bad experience and apologize that you felt mislead. Our policy is to be very open and honest with our promotions. In fact, the first question I answered the day of the Groupon addressed this very point. At Pearle, we take the care of your eyes very seriously and have Independent Doctors of Optometry next to Pearle that conduct through eye exams, so it is well worth the cost. I understand that you are frustrated, but would love for you to give us another try.

Alexis from Pearle

Lauren M.

I wonder if anyone else has ended up paying more than they expected when they used this Groupon. I expected to pay for the eye exam, and that was fine – I could even use my insurance for it – but the single vision lenses were $190, not $120 as advertised here. That’s still a cheap pair of glasses, but it’s still more than I was told.
