Glass can be exquisite in its myriad forms, from the ornate windows of a Gothic cathedral to the crystalline webbing of a freshly vandalized windshield. Reflect on beauty with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $49 for a glass-blowing class for one (a $100 value)
- $96 for a glass-blowing class for two (a $200 value)
Up to 20 students learn techniques for forming glass and creating colors as they create glass-blown hearts that add a touch of romance to holiday centerpieces. They also make perfect decorations and gifts for Valentine’s Day. Class dates and times may vary from week to week based on how many sign up. Students can pick up their hearts 48 hours after class. Pieces that are not picked up after 90 days become the property of the studio. For safety purposes, everyone should wear socks that cover the ankle, close-toed gym shoes, and a long- or short-sleeved cotton shirt, rather than synthetic fabrics.
Peter Patterson Glassworks
Though glass art has been Peter Patterson’s career for more than 35 years, glimpses of his other passions come through in his pieces, from his knowledge of plants to his scuba explorations of exotic seascapes. Indeed, he shapes searing-hot glass with the same fluidity as water, drawing on lessons from master teachers and his own background as an illustrator. The forms often flow around pre-fused decorations and even phosphorous elements that glow in the dark. At the end of class, students observe as Patterson creates his complex sea-form vase. Afterward, students may purchase this demo piece along with memorial keepsakes and incandescent light bulbs at a discount in the gallery.

“Peter was great and his young assistants were fantastic. The other artist who was helping had a little bit of a chip on her shoulder and kinda acted like the class was really the last place she wanted to be. But again, Peter was really fun to watch and when he was teaching he really seemed to be enjoying interacting with us.”
