Creating a 2-D rendition on canvas requires either the ability to masterfully wield a paintbrush or the strength to flatten a fruit bowl. Discover your artful brawn with today's Groupon: for $40, you get four two-hour art or pottery classes at Petersen Art Center (up to an $80 value). Materials have additional costs and vary by class; click here for materials lists for each class.

The enthusiastic instructors at Petersen Art Center infuse artistic ambitions with creative guidance during painting, drawing, and pottery classes. Students can lure bashful inner creativity into the open during four two-hour classes by daubing canvases with acrylics, spinning vases from clay, or using watercolors to transform windows into people-filled aquariums. Taught by nationally recognized classic-realism artist Sheri Doty, colored-pencil classes eschew No. 2s in favor of rich, vibrant hues. Drawing classes lay down the monochromatic foundation upon which all art is built, from frescoes to frisco melts. Age-specific kids' classes apply fundamental concepts and skills to make refrigerators puff up with pride. Finished works fill mantels, walls, or holiday stockings with handmade memories that feed imaginations and quell insatiable eye appetites.

Though Petersen Art Center sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

Petersen Art Center

To more than 9,000 students, artist Harold Petersen is known simply as “Pete.” In founding the Petersen Art Center in 1994, Pete created a place where creative minds could come together, express themselves, and share their abilities with others. Pete has been teaching for more than 50 years, and he continues to lead students each week in the fine arts of drawing and working with watercolors. In addition to giving pupils the benefits of his own expertise, he has assembled a crack team of sculptors, painters, and visual artists to help students navigate the right sides of their brains.

The Groupon Guide to: Memorizing Guitar Strings

Before you can play smokin' hot licks and uncomfortable-to-touch-because-they're-so-hot riffs, you've got to learn the basics of guitar. Here are some acronyms that will help you remember the notes (EADGBE) of the open guitar strings:

Every Awesome Deafening Guitar Brings Envy
Employing A Dog Gets Boring Eventually
Early Awake Daddy Goes Beddytime Early
Excellent. Arthur’s Death Grave Barely Eroded.
Everyone Accepts Defeat. Great Boys Even.
Eating Alone Depressing? Get a Buddy Eatswithme™!

In hindsight, I shouldn’t have hired a dog to manage this gas station.
