What software is needed to learn the digitial photography? Since you only have 30 days from activiation - say I wanted to do all four courses, can I activiate them ONE a time up until August? Since it will be impossible to learn all four in the 30 software trial period?

Yes, that is correct. You can activate them one at a time up to August. Trial versions of each program are included.

IF the trial version is only good for 30 days - then what will we use to complete the course within the allotted 'year' timeframe?? We will HAVE to purchase the software in order to complete the courses?

The trial version is valid for 30 days, and is fully functional. If you intend on taking longer then 30 days to complete the course, you would need to secure the software independently after this period.

I want to give this as a gift to a friend who is specifically interested in Lightroom. Will he be able to take that course? I'm not clear on what exactly the purchase of the Groupon buys. Is it access to one course, or to any of the courses for a year's time? Thank you!

Unfortunately, it does not. The Groupon only includes what is listed in the options. Lightroom is mentioned because Photo Art Studio offers that course in addition to the others.
