Is ths Groupon good for 3 private equipment lessons? The website says you need to have 10 privates before you can join a group.

Rebecca A.

Where do you post ‘used groupon’ pictures?

Katherine C.
Merchant

The groupon is for mat and equipment classes. On the website, it suggests people take 10 private (1-on-1) sessions before moving on to Trios, which is similar to a private only with 3 clients instead of 1. Group classes are separate entities.

suk yin l.

Is there a limit to how many Groupons someone can buy for themselves?

Lillian N.

Can you buy more than one for oneself?

Lillian N.

Also I would like to know what is a “group equipment class”?
Is it a trio?

Marlene S.

can you use it for gyrotonics?

Allison T.

I imagine this applies to the streamline series reformer classes or the SS Mat classes (and they will probably let you sub in the XBarre classes for the Mat since they are interchangable on the package)

To take an equipment class, some knowledge is expected.

pam f.

If you have no knowledge of Pilates, and the website states you shouldn’t use the equipment until you have some experience on it, where do you start? Is this deal for group classes? It sounds like you can just use it for mat classes if you’ve never done pilates before??? I think we all need answers/clarity on todays deal

Katherine C.
Merchant

CLARIFICATIONS!!! All of our group equipment classes EXCEPT Mon/Wed 8pm (Int) can be taken WITHOUT prior equipment experience. Group equipment classes use the Pilates Reformer & Pilates Chair. We also have GYROTONIC classes, which are also equipment classes. All of the group mat classes such as Pilates Mat, Cardiolates, & Xtend are all interchangeable if you opt for the 5 class option. To schedule an appointment, call the front desk at 212-687-8885, email us at info@pilatesonfifth.com, OR create your own login & see the group schedule for yourself by clicking “Schedule Your Classes” on the home page.

Meredith C.

Like Suk and Lilli, I still want to know if you can buy more than one of these deals… I don’t see the normal “limit one per customer” or “for new customers only” in the fine print, but I want to be POSITIVE I can use more than one before I purchase…

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Tara C.

Same question, may I buy more than one?

I just called, guy at desk said you can buy more than one.

Chau W.

So is the “equipment group” class the “trio class”? Also, does it include Activcore? Thank you.

Sarah m.

Good morning guys!

To answer Meredith, Tara, Suk, and Lilli’s question… there is no limit on today’s deal. So buy multiple for yourself, or be the best friend in the world and give the gift of Pilates on Fifth to as many friends you’d like!

Best,
Sarah~ Groupon Staff

Trang N.

Can I take classes marked as “Streamline Series”?

I love Pilates but always think it’s such an expensive hobby. I have never tried Pilates on Fifth, but will definitely do so now. Thank you Groupon for this great discount!

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi all!! Yes! Streamline series are fair game with this package! Also, we don’t have ActivCore classes yet, but we will consider it……. :) Cheers & thank you!!!

Mary A.

Probably a dumb question here but do we need to have our own mats? Thanks!

Katherine C.
Merchant

Nope! You don’t need your own mat, and it is not a dumb question! :)

Tracy L.

Groupon, you did well today! Thanks for a great opportunity — I’ve been dying to try Pilates on Fifth!

One question: will groupon buyers get a user name to be able to sign up for the classes online through the Mind Body Online? (That’s always so much easier than trying to do it over the phone)

Marie .

Katherine, What happened to the ActivCore classes? Have they been canceled forever? You had them a year ago…

Katherine C.
Merchant

We still have ActivCore private lessons and duet lessons, just not group classes… we’ve actually never had group lessons on Activcore… just privates & duets.. ActivCore is AMAZING!!! Thank you for your interest!

Katherine C.
Merchant

A great big THANK YOU! for your interest! One more clarification: Group classes and trios are two different beasts. Trios are comprised of people who have been doing Pilates for a while and ALWAYS want to keep the group limited to 3 people, hence the requirement of ten privates before joining. On the other hand, group reformer/chair classes have 5-6 maximum, while group mat/xtend/cardiolates classes have 10-12 max. Hope this helps!

Tracy L.

Katherine, any word on us using the mind body online?

Thanks :)

Ruthie M.

I plan on purchasing more than one (for myself) as I am a recent Pilates addict.
Is there a time limit to use each Groupon once it is “activated?”
Also, may I stack them on top of each other so I can take Reformer and mat classes simultaneously?
Thanks for your help!

Marie .

Thanks for your quick answer, Katherine! I took a trio class of ActivCore a while back, is this considered a group class?

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi again, actually trios are trios and group classes are group classes…. there has been alot of confusion about this! :S So sorry! You could always find three people who want to do ActivCore & schedule a trio together?……… Hope this helps!

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Ruthie, please activate the Groupon by the expiration date on the deal page. You can definitely take reformer & mat classes back to back, if that is what you’re asking. Our instructors often incorporate some matwork in the reformer/chair classes as well!

Jessica H.

Are we able to buy a separate cardio as an add on? For example, if I buy 2 groupon s (for 10 mat sessions), can I buy the cardio for $40. Thanks.

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi all! Create your own login and schedule your first class all online! Click on “Schedule Your Classes” on the home page and go from there! Please be sure to include your contact information. THANK YOU!

Katherine C.
Merchant

Kimberly & Katherine suggest!! Buy 2 Groupons & use one for Reformer/Chair or Gyro classes, & the other for Pilates Mat/XTEND/Cardiolates classes!

Hi Katherine, since there is no limit, can i buy, for example, 10 which I divide 5 for Reformer classes and the other 5 for Extend classes which I could use until its expiration of August 2010? I work near your studio and I have been yearning to do pilates for a stronger leaner body, so Power Pilates for me didn’t work that well as it just is a bit far.

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Liza! Yes, you can totally do this!! Combine away! We look forward to seeing you at the studio.

Meredith C.

I bought eight of these deals today (40 group classes – very excited!!!) and got like four other women at my job to purchase some as well. :)

Quick, final question…

It looks super easy to sign up for a class online, which is cool. Do you have to sign up any certain amount of time before the class (like a day or something)? Or like, day of, if it isn’t full can you still sign up then?

And if you have to cancel, can you do that online as well? Or do you have to call? And is it 24 hours notice to cancel even the group classes?

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Meredith! We recommend that you sign up in advance to ensure your spot in the class, but you can also sign up day of as well. You can cancel online. With group classes, you only need to cancel 2 hours in advance. That way, if there is a waiting list, we can notify them in time!

Karen L.

I have the same question as Jessica – are we able to add Cardio to our package if we buy 2 Groupons (10 mat classes)

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Jessica & Karen! Yes! You can add cardio to your package for the same $40 fee, just like 10 regular mat classes.

s s.

what is the expiration date on the coupons

Angelica M.

I would really love to buy a million of these to last a lifetime!!! haha but since we only have 6 months to work with… will it be worth it to go once a week to the classes for 6 months? or do you guys recommend going more than once a week… Im trying to see how many I would really need and get to use…

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi S.S. & Angelica! The expiration date on the coupons is 8/19/2010. If you’re aiming to see the most results, classes 2-3 times per week are optimal, especially if you vary your workouts among reformer/chair classes, cardiolates classes, pilates mat classes and xtend classes!! Thank you! K & K

Angelica M.

Ok so I decided Im gonna buy 6 deals… What would be the best way to combine these? I’ve never really done Pilates other than a few DVD’s but it was pure mat work… Im really interested in all your workouts, which would be the best way to combine these classes, like should I do 15 mat classes and 9 equipment classes? or try to even it out?

Ok I have read through all of the questions and answers. I still want to be completely clear since I am a complete newbie to pilates. The 3 uses for equipment classes are the group equipment classes that are offered online? If i am a new and have never been there do I still sign up for private classes since I have no experience? I didn’t see they have beginners classes.

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Aleia! Yes, the coupon for the 3 group equipment classes is for the classes that you see online. You do not have to take private lessons before taking the group equipment classes, with the exception of classes labeled “Intermediate” or “Advanced” Reformer.

Alison H.

I just created my account online, however it is saying that I have no credit to sign up for a class. What do I have to do to start scheduling my classes?

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi Alison! Until tomorrow, you will need to call or email the studio to sign up for classes. Once we get our master list, we will add all of you into the system and put your purchases in there so that you can sign up for classes online! We just don’t have any of that info yet! Thank you!

Agnes A.

To Katherine C: I noticed that a little over 1300 purchases have been made so far. I’m wondering if Pilates on Fifth has ENOUGH slots (for classes, whether mat or equipment) to be able to honor and accommodate this volume of Groupon purchases as well as their regular customers (who have not purchased this Groupon deal) within the 6-MONTH time frame?? Or will this Groupon offer result in a “first-come, first-serve” enrollment, thereby excluding some Groupon members from cashing in on this deal before the 8/19/10 expiration date?? Has Pon5th considered this far ahead? Or is Pon5th counting on some Groupon folks not redeeming/forgetting about this purchase?

Katherine C.
Merchant

Agnes, GREAT QUESTION!! We will make sure that everyone is accommodated! Currently, we have between 10-15 classes every weekday, and 4-7 on weekends. If need be, we will certainly add classes as well. We see this as a problem of abundance (never a bad thing!) and we will make sure that everything works out and all of you get to use your groupon purchases. To further clarify, if you are having a terrible time getting a spot in a class and are wary of the deadline approaching, give us a call or shoot us an email so that we can make the necessary adjustments, which may include extending the deadline. Kimberly & I hope this helps!

Sorry if this is repeat question, but does this cover privates or only group classes? Not sure if i am wording my question right. I’ve never taken a pilates class ever in my life and I would like to try but the website says you should start with privates. Not sure where to start since there aren’t specific intro. classes.

Kimberly C.
Merchant

Hi there! This offer covers group classes for both mat (which includes Xtend and Cardiolates) and equipment, and you are welcome to join in without any prior experience. Although we have always suggested people start with privates for the equipment classes, most people don’t and do just fine. Our equipment classes are small (max of 5) and the teachers are very compassionate and attentive, so you’ll be fine I’m sure. Hope this helps! Kimberly

Katherine C.
Merchant

Hi there! Our website only recommends privates before joining a trio, which would be jumping in with two people who’ve been doing Pilates for a while. Our group classes are designed for beginners and veterans, so you don’t need privates before you begin. The “class schedule” page on the website lists all the times of our Equipment classes, including Reformer/Chair and GYROTONIC. Group mat classes include Pilates mat, XTEND Barre Workout, and CARDIOLATES. You can start with any mat class you like, and any equipment class that is NOT labeled “Intermediate” or “Advanced”. See you at the studio!

s s.

Katherine, over 1500 bought, good for you! Are the sessions transferable?

Katherine C.
Merchant

Yes, all sessions at Pilates on Fifth are transferable but not refundable. Thank you! Kimberly and I are quite pleased! :) :)

wow! 1,600! This must be the most groupon had to deal :) Congratulations. I hope that there are enough classes cuz I bought 10 as i previously asked. So when can I start Katherine? Congratulations! btw, I saw you and your sister on Oprah (while in the Philippines) too now I’m availing of your services, its sooo surreal. :) Excited to start my pilates! woohoo!

pam f.

OK, one more basic question for those of us that have NEVER done Pilates: Which is the best class to take for the very first time? Mat or Equipment, or does it matter?

Diana t.

i’m trying to book a reformer class online but it doesn’t have a “sign up now” button next to any reformer class…..for the rest of the year. can reformer classes can only be booked over the phone or is there no more availability? if there is no availability, can pilates on 5th please schedule more classes asap? we shouldn’t be forced to take mat classes in order to use our groupons by the expiration. thanks.

Aruna P.

I took my first class today (Xtend Barre Method) and wow, it was awesome! I’m a gym rat with heavy weights and cardio, and this was a very pleasant change. I’m sad now that I didn’t get all 10 groupons!! If anyone wants to transfer theirs to me for any reason, I’ll take ’em & pay you via paypal….so let me know.

Roserose C.

I didn’t realize we were able to buy more that one groupon each. I definitely would have bought more! Any chance this groupon will be offered again??

Sasha H.

I hope they offer this Groupon again to. I’m kicking myself for only getting one.

Chau W.

I concur. Please offer this deal again for those who can’t really afford equipment classes…

Aruna P.

Hey guys…as luck would have it (or NOT have it), I got hurt and can’t use my groupons that I did purchase for this deal.

Please drop me a note if you would like to buy them from me. I just need payment via Paypal and have to give you the Groupon code for you to use this deal. I’ve already “gifted” one Groupon like this with no issues, and have 4 more to sell.

Aruna, are u still offering this groupons? almost finished mine.

Aruna P.

Sorry, Liza…these are long gone. They were snapped up within a few days. ’Twas a good deal!

Fredi B.

I have 3 Groupons that I won’t be able to use, so if anyone is interested, please let me know.

Emily G.

I also have 1 Groupon that I won’t be able to use – if anyone would like it, let me know!

Lilian L.

Fredi B. & Emily G. – Are you still looking to sell your Groupons for Pilates on Fifth?

Fredi B.

Lilian,

Yes, I still have 3 to sell. Please let me know how I can contact you.

Karen L.

I’d buy one – kl237@cornell.edu

Lilian L.

Fredi, I’m at helloquirky@aol.com. Thanks!

Jennifer J.

Anyone else interested in buying, I bought 3 when it was offered but now I’m going to be running the NYC Marathon and will need to start swimming as my cross training. If interested, please drop me a note here and I’ll take it offline to figure out logistics with you directly.

Cynthia Y.
