Choose Between Two Options

  • $85 for a one-day guided whitewater-rafting trip for one with a taco bar lunch, valid Monday–Friday (up to a $170 value)
  • $85 for a one-day guided whitewater-rafting trip for one with a taco bar lunch, valid Saturday or Sunday (up to a $170 value)

Highly trained river guides accompany paddling customers in sky-blue rafts through an aqueous obstacle course of Class III rapids. During the one-day excursion, life-vested customers (a minimum of six per trip) are jostled and sprayed as they admire the sun-soaked banks and deep canyons of the Chili Bar section of the American River's South Fork. Beginners to intermediate riders as young as 8 years old encounter rocks, sweeping currents, and Poseidon's industrial-size kitchen mixer as they churn up whitewater at renowned rapids including the Meatgrinder, Triple Threat, and Troublemaker. On cold days, wetsuits may be required and can be rented for $15 each. The taco bar lunch features a variety of fillings, including several vegetarian options.

Pirate Rafting Company

Together, Pirate Rafting Company's guides have logged more than 15,000 miles on dozens of rivers. Their steadfast paddles continue to lead the charge as groups, seated in sky-blue rafts, crash into whitewater, spraying guests with mist like a surprise party for Shamu. Three separate stretches of river set the stage for these adventures. The North Fork American River includes Class IV+ rapids that blast the snowmelt against the dusk-colored rocks. The South Fork American River and Middle Fork American River include intense stretches, but are generally better suited to beginners.

Off the water, the guides demonstrate their expertise by setting up camp along the tree-lined banks and pitching tents beneath the stars.
