Before adrenaline junkies discovered skydiving, falling from the sky was reserved for raindrops, meteors, and one hapless, immortal coyote. Take a fun plunge with today's Groupon: for $125, you get a tandem skydive from Plymouth Sky Sports in Plymouth (up to $195 value).

Plymouth Sky Sports staffers coach newbies through every step of the tandem-skydiving process, from prelaunch to postlanding. Before embarking on a skyward voyage, parachuting novices attend a half-hour instructional class going through the fundamentals of skydiving, including which direction to fall and which birds are jerks. Certified diving buddies fit each cadet with a safety harness and a full set of jumping gear before ascending two miles skyward, attaching themselves to their students, and launching both bodies into the blue. After a one-minute freefall, the parachute deploys, and students can use their newfound skills to help steer toward the landing target or nearby half-time show.

Newly minted skydiving vets receive a logbook and certificate to commemorate the experience. For an additional charge, a videographer will accompany you on your jump, recording the entire process in HD video.

Although Plymouth Sky Sports is offering a Grand Opening discounted rate online through March and April, this Groupon is still the best deal available.

Groupon Says

The Groupon Guide to: Cowpeople

Although commonly dismissed as legend, like Sasquatch and Zachary Taylor, cowboys and cowgirls were very real, and their culture still influences our own today. How have some of their rituals evolved into modern incarnations?

Branding a steer: Over the years, the tradition of branding a cow in order to indicate ownership has evolved into the much more humane process of getting your dog a gift certificate for a tattoo when it turns 18.

Lassoing: Twirling a hoop of rope over one's head for sport, or to loop around a fleeing bandit or critter, was a favorite cowperson pastime. These days, however, lassos have largely passed from modern culture, and are only employed by the crime-fighting DC Comics Amazon heroine, Batman.

Spitting: All but extinct. Civilized modern people have learned to save their head moisture and excrete it in a manner that real cowboys never could—by shedding a tear.
