If I only spend $8, do I get to keep the remaining $2?
The problem is having to spend it by Monday 11/2.
You don’t receive the notice for 24 hours, so if you don’t have a printer at home, it narrows you down to eating out on Monday only.
They should have at least a week to spend this Groupon.

it’s 11/2/2010…
can the groupon also be used towards the delivery charge? that actually would bring a single pocket order to just over $10.

The fine print clearly states "In- store purchases only, not valid on delivery or online orders.
all groupon coupons are good for 6 months to a year that is what I have seen..! Pay attention to the year!
Kristin, the fine print says that it cannot be used to pay online or for delivery, in-store use only, so… it will not work towards delivery unfortunately.
Rob, my experience with groupons is that they are one time use, unless they are a special kind of groupon where they give you a card, then it becomes a multi-use groupon, those are rare and in this case it is not one of those (which you exchange in store for a card), so you will have to use it in one sitting they do not give you a refund because you ate less then the groupon is valued for either.
there is a limit on these?!… but… it says no purchase limit on the fine print, that’s odd…
Matthew, the only groupons that I have seen that are due so soon are special event groupons, i.e., baseball games, music shows, etc., etc., food groupons are generally 1 year from date of supposed activation, and the least I have seen so far is something like 3 or 4 months from date of purchase (Manny’s), don’t worry you will have plenty of time, just do not leave it to the last minute, otherwise you will be making a long line along with other groupon procrastinators, lol (day before manny’s expired, the line was going out the door, can’t imagine how the last day looked).

Do I have the $10 in one visit? I would only be ordering one meal, which would be less than that amount. Thanks!
Ashley, the groupon is one time use, however, you could use it for less then it is worth if you want to, they just will not give you any money back and will most likely keep the groupon as they normally do, however, now I have a question about someting.
Will this groupon cover tax and gratuity? (doubt on the latter, but the taxation question is something that is missing in the fine print this time around)
Wouldn’t it be nice if the fine folks at Groupon would check in a little more often to answer all the questions that come up each day? Maybe they’re too busy petting the cat…

If people would read the fine print on these offers more carefully they wouldn’t be posting questions that needn’t have been asked. That, and a little familiarity with how Groupon works – no, you don’t get your money back if you don’t spend the face value of the Groupon – would reduce the number of unnecessary inquiries, and the Groupon folks could pet their cat more.
Hey Guys,
I am here I just saw everyone answering the questions correctly so didn’t see a need to chime in. I here though if you need anything.

Hi Scott, I did read the fine print. I am new to Groupon though and am not totally familiar with how it works, hence my question. I didn’t feel it was an unnecessary inquiry.
Can I buy 1000 of these and use them all if I use them by the epiration? Or is there a limit per person
Hey Ashley,
No worries! No change will be given so I would personally use all ten dollars.

I eat at Pockets a lot, and this is a great deal for a fresh alternative. I’ll bring friends for lunch (I bought 10) to turn them on to a new place, and to help the restaurant out with new clients. I’m sure homeless people would appreciate the free lunch, too. Or your cat might like it.

i dont have any cats, but i would defnetely give it to a dog :)
Good point, Marty, but my dog picks out only the broccoli.
If I buy more than one can I use them on the same visit? Would love to use two of them to feed my family of 4!
I have the same question as Angela: can I use more than one groupon coupon in a single visit?
Yes same question here – can someone please clarify whether more than one groupon could be used in one visit?
I think it is one groupon per visit. That is how past ones have worked.
Hey Groupies,
Just one per visit. Thanks.
Hey Jeffery,
You could buy 1,000 if you want too but since it is only one per visit you wouldn’t have enough time to use them all in one year unless you gave some to friends…
J

I have enough time.
no one’s answered my tax/gratuity question…
so… does it include tax and/or gratuity?
Hey Daniel,
Sorry I missed that one! Does include tax but not tip.
J
Oh forget that. If it can’t be used for delivery it is not worth it to me. Finding parking at the nearest pockets is impossible. By the time you pay to park the value has already gone down $2.00. They would sell a lot more if it could be used towards delivery orders.
I know it says no online orders or delivery, but I just want to make sure it includes pick-up. For instance, if I phone in my order and pick it up (hence paying for it in person) will this apply.
I just received the email with the link to print the PDF file of the groupons and the PDF file does not open. I bought five and selected print all and tried one at a time. Any suggestions? Thanks.
cool
I like the idea that people read the fine print and then get it!
gregory..get a new puter or printer..
Chris. Pockets will honor phone ahead offers on this order.
Bob from Pockets.
Is anyone else having trouble buying this Groupon? I’ve tried 3 different credit cards and it keeps giving me an error message (w/o including what the actual error is).

Hey there Kathleen – try logging out and back in… I’m sorry to report that we’re having some Facebook Connect issues. They should be fixed soon, but that should solve your issue in the short term.
My apologies!
Andrew
So guess what happened to me today, fellow buyers? I had bought 4 of these Pockets Groupons, and was sent the email that I could print them out and use them. I do just that, then today I went to Pockets on Lincoln Ave to redeem one. But, the checkout guy says to me, “You can only use it if you spent $30.00”. I said to him, “No, that’s not what the offer was for.” He said, “My manager told me to tell everyone that you have to spend at least $30 in order to use the Groupon.” WTF??? I was definitely pissed and of course, the manager was nowhere to be found. So, I couldn’t use my Groupon!!! I’m pretty upset because I bought these so I could spend $10 worth of food (which is all I need for myself!)
Now that I’ve gone back to read the deal and haven’t found any details about needing to spend $30, I’m definitely angry at Pockets for lying about this or maybe Groupon did not make the offer clear. Either way, it really makes me question the ethics of both places unless I can get a clear answer about what is happening here.
Did I miss something? I tried to find all the fine print and didn’t find ANYTHING about needing to spend at least $30 before being able to use my Groupon.
Someone PLEASE fix this.
Becky’s experience is incredibly disconcerting; it would be one thing if the offer had no reference to purchase limits, but the coupon specifies that there is no such limit in is place. While I’ve never had a bad experience using my groupons, I’m certainly going to be ready for a fight when I try the Pockets one today at the Hyde Park location. Regardless, I’m curious to see how the people at groupon handle this issue.
Thank you, Meredyth! I hope your experience is better than mine. I know there is no limit to the amount of Groupons to buy. But there is NO indication that I have to spend $30 before I use my $10 valued coupon.
I have yet to hear back from Groupon about this issue.

Meredyth, I plan to use at least two of the three Groupons I bought at the Hyde Park Pockets location. I’d be interested in whether or not you got the same runaround that Becky got at the Lincoln Park location. Or maybe it’s just a Northside thing? Southside Rulz!
Hi Becky & Groupies,
Hold tight, we will contact the business and make sure this does not happen again!
Sorry & thanks!

Hi Groupies,
Just one mis-informed employee at one of the 14 locations. Spoke with Pockets and it should be smooth sailing. Going forward if you guys have any problems and/or issues just let Groupon customer service know and we will help you out. Becky – did you contact customer service here? They can help!
J
Thanks Janya, I really appreciate it!!
I purchased 2 groupons for Pockets and went to use the first one just now. I was told that each groupon coupon had to be used in a single setting. So the $10 I got for $5 was used up in one setting. If I didn’t spend the full $10 at once, I would lose out on the rest.
That’s not what I bought on Friday. I bought $20 of Pockets for $10. What a ripoff!!! Groupon and Pockets, you should be ashamed of ripping people off like that. It will be a LONG time before I buy another groupon offer again!
Hey guys,
Pockets contacted me and nicely apologized for the mistake (Thanks Bob from Pockets!). They said the only limitation on the Groupon is that their is a limit of 1 per visit, which Janye made very clear in her posts. And Bob offered me a nice e-coupon for an online order.
Thank you Groupon & Pockets for clearing this up. :)
-Becky
The manager or whoever I spoke with at the Lake St branch said that the groupon was only good for 1 visit, even if it was under $10.
I purchased 2 Groupons, reading the “no limit” as meaning that I could use both at the same time (I was bringing 4 other people with me). Unfortunately, it was 1 use per visit.
Not a big deal, but I wish the Groupon’s had a consistent layout of the basic terms & conditions right there on the page. That way, there’s no confusion and we all know exactly where to look for the details of the offer. For example:
- Groupon Purchase Limit
- Groupon Use Per Visit
- Valid Locations
- Delivery Area
- Expiration Date
- Any Other Restrictions
Thanks
This is my first groupon purchase so I don’t know how long it should take to receive the email with the coupons, but I haven’t gotten it yet…should I be concerned?

No purchase limit? That’s very generous in this economy. Mmmmm.
